No, I know the difference between normal male/male companionship and normal male/female relations. What I am objecting to is the attitude that what happens between sailors and prostitutes is in any way "normal" or that it has anything to do with maturity or masculinity. These men have been at sea living an abstinent life not seeing anything but other men for months. If a lot 40 year old priests have a hard time with it, then how does a twenty-something handle abstinence. Most are in their early twenties and are not of the age of realizing the consequences of an excessively free-spirited life. If you have this vision of every woman being something like a pure rose in the meadow, I have news for you. A lot of women are pretty crude. I'm not saying that these brothel women are all crude, but not all women are angels. How can you exploit something that's unexploitable?
