I think that the desperate need to pay a prostitute, not just for sex, but "for company"--i.e., for companionship, someone to talk to about the stress, etc.--is a sign of just how shallow so many male/male friendships are. These guys go through war together, but they are so incapable of supporting one another that they need to find a prostitute to relieve "stress."

Or else, they shouldn't be allowed to publish the names of priests accused of sexual misconduct, or the names of the bishops, or the names of the dioceses where it occurs.

Nowhere near the same thing. The priests were victimizing unwilling people. I doubt many of the people in the bordello were unwilling paticipants.

"Can they file for "worker's comp"? "

They would probaly qualify for that under "repetitive motion disorder".

Ms Kenworthy said she wished the US sailors would arrive come in smaller numbers.

I believe the original quote has been restored.

I'd rather take nothing than offer a poor service

I can't speak for anyone else, but in this department I would rather have poor service than nothing.

"the U.S. Bordello Patrol.... "

An agency created under X-42's tenure, no doubt!

The part about expecting money for not having sex?

Oh, I don't know. Several of my previous employers were always ready to screw the employees.

Hey! They are in the same boat.

Mary-Anne Kenworthy said she was forced to close the doors of her famous Langtrees brothel for only the third time ever yesterday because her prostitutes were so worn out they could no longer provide a quality service.

The decision was made after an incident with a replacement prostitute who had a speech impediment, and a randy sailor claiming to be the Norse god Thor got out of hand.
During sex the sailor would holler “I am Thor, I am Thor” to the consternation of the prostitute who responded “listen pal I am so thor I can barely pisth."

You're correct, it's not really "stress" Arthur, we called it a bad case of white-out.

They are both necessary and totally different support systems.

I think that what is "shallow" are your comments. Most men in the service do not seek recreational or therapeutic sex because they have some sort of personality deficit, as your comments seem to imply, but as a needed outlet. It is not a substitute for deeper commitment, but rather a way to get relief without making commitment to the wrong person out of a desperate need.

Would you suggest the sailor going ashore marry the first love starved girl he meets, or do what military men have done for centuries? Even the sanctimonious Roundhead Army under Cromwell had camp followers.

[Sorry to any gals, dropping by, for having to go public with what is usually male talk. But I thought someone should put in a good word for the fleet.]

"Aussie foreplay: Brace yourself Betty."

HA!!
Bravo, mate.

...eh; there's a Foster's commercial lurking here, somewhere.

Oh, you think sexual misconduct should be covered up?

And what laws do you know were definitely broken?

I forged deep relationships with the men I served with, but I sure as hell don't want to f*** or cuddle with them. Apples and oranges, man.

"The girls were starting to refuse to have sex but still wanted money just for taking their clothes off."

Ms. Kenworthy doesn't seem to understand an important free-market principle:
"The customer is always right!"

I'm sure Ms. Kenworthy will down at the dock and wailing when the US ships and their
crews leave (with at least a few US dollars in their pockets!).

In my book there sure is, though one may be less likely to notice after a couple of months at sea.
