This is the summary of an operations update circulating around DOD, source is N/A but it's a good read...
Let the message go forth to the Al Qaeda, other terrorists, and those who want to back them anywhere on the globe.
Think you're tough? You want to kill our families, blow up civilians?
Stand by! We are sending our very best to hunt you down and take you out.
Army Special Forces, SEALs, USAF PJ's and CCTs, UK SAS and SBS, Australian SAS, New Zealand SAS, German KSK, US and Royal Marines, Canadian and American Infantry- These are the guys who are coming to get you.
These are the guys who will climb into the mountains and into the darkened caves halfway around the world and look you in the eye, toe to toe, with any weapon at hand (ours or yours), to take you out.
These guys have trained longer, are stronger, harder, faster, tougher, and more relentless and lethal than anything you will ever produce.
And we will arm them with the best money can buy, from Spectre gunships and thermobaric bombs to knives sharper than any box cutter you can sneak on a plane.
They are now on your trail. They're hunting you down. How's it feel to be a terrorist now?

That was to a battle, NOT a Jihad. A cowardly battle at that. We can lose a battle or two and still win the Jihad. I think they are finding that there is nothing holy about this war.
True enough, but I can't help but wonder if they don't deeply regret the act - they are paying a considerable price, well beyond what I think they anticipated.
Those who fund, harbor and train Islamic terrorists should read the history books from 7 December 1941 to when the racist Japanese Bushidos finally signed an uncondition peace agreement, to see what is coming their way!
Today we have even more awesome firepower, better surveilance/communications and probably a better trained military. They can run but they can't hide.
What evidence do you see of that?
I hope you are right, but I haven't seen much evidence that they are cowed, or are even paying much of a price; the lack of follow-on terrorist acts may be evidence, but you suggest more.

In general, they have lost freedom of action. They aren't really secure, anywhere - we are taking the fight to their caves, homes and cities, and the only thing keeping them alive is that we don't know who they are.
They are absolutely tough, resilient and resourceful, and the situation in Israel is evidence enough that it may take more than we have to completely eliminate the threat, but their cost of doing business today is MUCH higher.
How do we know that?
Between the 1993 WTC bombing and the Africa embassy bombings it was five years. Then it was 3 years until 9/11. Now it's been six months since 9/11. How do we -know- they don't have some other spectacular plot reaching maturation?
I am not picking at you, I just wonder if (and hope) you are right.
