Lay to open secondhand shop HOUSTON, April 30 (UPI) -- The wife of former Enron Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Lay plans to open an upscale antique and design store, a family spokeswoman told United Press International Tuesday.
Linda Lay and her daughter, Robin, plan to open in early May an antique and secondhand shop in Houston called Jus' Stuff.
Ken Lay took millions with him when he left the company, whose bankruptcy wiped out most employees' pension savings.
They plan to sell a wide range of items including the family's personal property and furniture from its rental properties, said Lay family spokeswoman Kelly Kimberly.
"She determined that some of these furnishings were just stuff and could be sold. Family and friends agreed," Kimberly told UPI.
Kimberly said the store will also feature new items, antiques, and will offer design services.
The collection will include a lamp fashioned from antique streetlights, a mahogany bed, and antique reproduction desk, artwork and a bright yellow pair of fighting cocks.
Since Enron filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 2, the Lays have been selling off assets, including several properties in Aspen, Colo., and Galveston, Texas, as well as commercial properties.
Lay resigned as Enron's chief executive in January.
The building at 1302 W. Gray in the Houston suburb of Montrose is owned by Lay's real estate development company, Kimberly said.
