the teacher was doing the parents job,and better,
shame on the parents.

Ok, as bad as this sounds keep in mind that some kids wear one set of clothes out of the house and change on the way or at school. I have been teaching for 10 years at the 9-12 grade level. I have had parents stunned to see what their daughter or son was wearing when the kid was in violation of the dress code. That may be part of the administrator's point of view.
On the other hand, as long as they are worn and not seen I don't believe it is anybody's business what kind of underwear anyone is wearing.

There wasn't anything untoward in the pics posted, it was the source I guess... (which I didn't even know what it was!)
Because I was just channel surfing, I came across Greta. She had on two moms and one of the students that was supposedly inspected. Her mother knew exactly what she had on, black fishnets with her thong underneath her short skirt.
The administrator has been placed on paid, administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Holy SH-T! This is the 607th post on this topic.
It says alot about what has become of this site when the most popular thread involved women's underwear.
To: hobbes1
That doesn't excuse Gran. She's definitely old enough to know what a hoochie is, and how a certain piece of clothing might make her granddaughter look like one.

The question remains: is it the role of the school to enforce underwear codes, or the role of the parent to do so?
The school sets the dress code, so the school enforces it. The parents should raise their daughters not to be hoochies and wear clothes so tight their panties show, and this wouldn't be an issue.

I missed this thread yesterday, but to me this is no different than the problem with the priests in the church.
How do you imagine the priests made their first advances on the young boys? Do you suppose they asked to check their underwear for some innocuous reason?
I'm not suggesting that what the teacher did is elevated to the level of pedaphelia, but if you want to nip a problem in the bud, where do you begin? I think a good place to start is by expecting non-parental figures to stay away from our children's underwear.

It says alot about what has become of this site when the most popular thread involved women's underwear. Actually there are a few other threads on this topic too. But there are many other threads which have drawn more comments. The thread on Colin Powell being out as Secretary of State got 267 posts in about 2 hours before it was yanked for being untrue.

I don't see this thread as being about womens underwear. If it is about underwear only it is about young girls underwear. I do see this post as being about a school taking upon itself to "undress" girls to make sure what kind of undies they have on. What is worse is the fact that they did this in full view of some people that they did not want the girls to flash in the first place. If a girl "flashes" anyone at any time during the dance then I think she should be removed. Until that time they had better keep their hands off the girls or there should be big big trouble.

The school sets the dress code, so the school enforces it. Even for articles of clothing that are not visible?
To: NittanyLion
My workplace dress code mentions underclothing, as in "You must wear appropriate underclothing to work." I have no idea how they'd know if I were breaking the rule, but if I were, and they found out, I'd understand why I'd be getting into trouble.
Now, if they found out by putting mirrors on their shoes, we'd have a second story. We'd have my violation of the dress code, AND my violation of their personal space when I stomped on their feet and (oops) broke the mirror. Dang. I hate it when that happens.
