Thong-Wearing Teens Kicked Out Of Dance
A group of parents are calling for the resignation of Rancho Bernardo High School's vice principal, claiming she enforced underwear checks at a school dance, 10News reported.
The dance occurred Friday and vice principal Rita Wilson turned away girls who were wearing thongs, the parent said.
Kim Teal is among the several parents angry with Wilson (pictured, right).
"First thing (my daughter) said when she got into the car was, 'Mom, it was horrible last night. You have to fight this,'" Teal told 10News.
According to parent Alane Garvik, girls who arrived at the dance wearing short skirts were immediately asked: "What kind of underwear do you have on?"
When Garvik's daughter red-facedly announced that she was wearing thong underwear she was told to "go home and put on appropriate underwear," according to Garvik.
Teal's daughter made it in and claims to have witnessed faculty lifting the skirts of girls to assure that the offending underwear was going nowhere near the dance floor.
"Well, I just saw ... a line of people and the vice principal, Mrs. Wilson, she was checking to see what the girls were wearing under their dresses. And she was literally lifting up their skirts and embarrassing them in front of everyone else," one student told 10News.
Parents and students have placed the blame on Wilson, for spearheading the thong underwear checks, even though there is nothing in the school dress code against them.
"It's not their right to know what kind of underwear these kids have," Garvik told 10News.
10News contacted school officials, who all declined to go on camera. But Principal Paul Gentle did say that he is "looking into the situation."
Parents are now asking for Wilson to resign.
Gentle said that even while enforcing the school dress code, it is not proper procedure to ask students what they are wearing underneath their clothes.
He told 10News that he plans to meet with parents sometime this week.
Don't wear the thong, if you can't take the heat. Thong wearers should be immune from embarassment, otherwise why wear it. This story illustrates one of America's biggest problems: "Idiotic Parents". What sane mother is going to defend her daughter wearing thong underwear and a short skirt to a high school dance? They should be angry.... at their slutty daughters.
Certain girls have always worn as little as possible, as tight as possible, because they were, frankly, sluts.
Some nicer girls, seeing the sluts get all of the attention, and not realizing it isn't GOOD attention, dress similarly. They don't want to put out, they just want to look like they do.
This has now advanced to the point where exposing full butt cheek in public is now somewhat common. It should only be a quick flash, like you would get when you are dancing, but the sight is there all the same. Thong underwear isn't meant for ease of access, it is meant as advertising. Unfortunately many thick-headed teenage girls don't full understand what they are advertising for.
While it wasn't stated in the article, I would be willing to bet that there have been dances prior to this one and that the "thong underwear" flashing has led to some eye-brow-raising dance floor moves.
Personally, I would never let my teenage girl out the door dressed like that. Teenage girls, though, have been known to change their clothes once they are out of sight of Mom and Dad. While I would be against the school actually raising the skirts of girls as they entered the dance, I would be totally supportive of them sending the little tramps home if they flash on the dance floor.
So am I a Nazi, or what?
However, dirty dancing grinding and exposig the thong crosses the line.
Is it possible to have the school act in lieu of the parent in this case, but not act on the same principle in the classroom? (I'm asking sincerely.) It seems to me you can't have it both ways.
this person WAS from CA, duh!
But you don't really believe that do you? I mean it makes good conversation for a lot of the freepers here.... but really... in your heart you don't believe that do you?
No. The question is does the school have the obligation to enforce anti nudity codes ON THEIR GROUNDS. to wit: Only Short Skirted girls were checked out, and apparently of those, only those with skimpy underwear were singled out.
That should be obvious.
Agreed. If the thing wearing leads to inappropriate public displays, the school should step in. I just have a problem with executing a search at the door for underwear not in plain sight.
I agree with this statement 100%. We should pool our money and take on all bets.
I'll bet you money she was abused as a kid.
All this time I have been working on a Phd when I should have been working on a TH.d.
