In order to finish our interrupted war with Iraq, we don't need any evidence at all that Saddam ordered 9/11. The fact that he continues to develop WMDs in violation of the ceasefire agreement of 1991 is enough of a basis to proceed.

This is the whole point---whether or not Iraq was behind 9/11, Oklahoma City, or the Kennedy Assassination is irrelevant. It is a dangerous Islamic country led by a creepy nut who is seeking nuclear weapons. In my dictionary, that appears under "security risk."

Unlike the news media, the Bush administration has never said all that much about this particular connection.

Like all intelligence matters, it's hard to tell if this story is credible in any case. When the major intelligence agencies are involved, you never know what is information and what is disinformation. Or, for that matter, what person in government with a political agenda may be leaking disinformation.

LARDNER
You always say that. You always say that. I'm telling you, you never met the man.

MCCULLERS
Seventeen months ago I was posting a walk in Lisbon, and he was there. He never saw me. But I saw him, though.

LARDNER
Lisbon?

MCCULLERS
In Portugal, yes.

LARDNER
Here's the news: He hasn't been in Portugal since '90. I know that from the file. Why don't you read the file, man?

MCCULLERS
In fact, I think I talked with him, in Bonn.

LARDNER
You always say that. You always have to know everybody. Why don't I just take the weekend off and let you kill him. Since you two are so close.

the Czech government provided the CIA with intelligence

That's a scream.

These guys didn't even get it right that it was Reagan who won the Cold War without any help from a Vice President who was busy elsewhere.

Looks like the State Department --the folks who gave us 9/11 and the anthrax -- is busy trying to protect the boy in Baghdad again. They won't be satisfied until we are all dead, obviously.

...Atta had indeed flown from Prague to the United States in June 2000

Why would someone like Atta be in Prague in the first place. And the possibility he had been there more often (using false passports)has to yet to be explained.

On my last trip to Europe I was travelling between Austria, Switzerland France and Germany without once having my border crossings recorded. I probably could have driven into Prague a dozen times via back roads without the authorities knowing (I know you need a visa for Czech Republic so don't ping me)

.............By Michael Isikoff.............

The AUTHOR is none other than the gentleman that was about to publish on MONICA LEWINSKY, if my memory serves me right.........and whose editors at Newsweek squashed the story...........allowing Drudge to get there first!

FYI: This is no third-stringer folks!

Would you rather that Newsweek report fabrications? This story comes from the government in Prague.

Actually, the original story came from the government of Prague, where it was publicly confirmed on separate occasions by the Czech President (Vaclev Havel), Prime Minister (Milos Zeman) and Interior Minister (Stanislav Gross). All the alleged, long-after-the-fact "debunking" of the Atta-Iraq connections have been attributed only to "unnamed government sources" by left-leaning journalists. You figure out what's going on. It ain't hard.

Isikoff is a longtime media stooge and designated leak taker, when ever a story needs to be denied citing "un named official sources".

Yes, he's definitely on THEIR side. Nonetheless, I always equate the importance of the article, yea or nay, by considering the source.

Chris is an hysterical Saddam kneepadder (see The road to Baghdad), so no surprises there. Unsourced quotes from State Department arabists with a topping of innuendo and misdirection from "Spikey" Isikoff are like mothers' milk to Chrissy boy.
