"Why are they talking about mileage? When comparing alternatives to gasoline, wouldn't you want to compare emissions?" The greens are fond of pointing out that one fuel is "cleaner" than another, based on the amount of pollutants per gallon burned.
But, if you have to burn more gallons to go X distance, the "clean" fuel isn't so "clean" any more.
