The last no-hitter pitched in Fenway Park (by a Red Sox) was in September 1965 by Dave Moorehead. I was just three years old!
This does seem like a special year for sports in Boston. The New England Patriots winning the Super Bowl and moving into a brand new stadium this fall. The Bruins and Celtics in the playoffs together for the first time in years. And now the Red Sox off to a 15-6 start with solid pitching, excellent fielding, hitting and baserunning. Not to mention new ownership. I am so glad that the Yawkey/Harrington era is over.

I thought the Devil Rays were in Chapter 11 and fielding anybody willing to don a uniform for minimum wage.

Just thought I'd give you another ping because this is such sweet news.

I was a big fan of the BoSox years ago...but those were the days of Yaz, Rice, Carleton, etc.
When Sullivan(?) started letting the the best go to save the $, I gave up...(Don the "mis-manager" didn't help either).

Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens, someone said or sang, but so is a perfect baseball game I've often thought. Imagine, a no hitter by both teams. Ah, I can dream can't I?

I was very happy that ESPN broke into a broadcast of a "World's Strongest Man" competition (hey, I left the TV on when I started FReepin'!) to show him pitch the ninth inning. A walk to lead off the third was the only thing that kept this from being a perfect game. Yahoo had posted an article about Lowe's great start this year a few hours before the game, and said he was the man to watch this year... I bet that author is feeling prescient right about now! =^)

I managed to grab Derek in just about every fantasy league I'm in...as a relief pitcher in one. I finally won a game in that league. >:o
