Can someone please tell me if the words of JPII are worth more than the paper they are printed on? How do you enforce them?

JPII's words are the words of Peter. When Our Lord said his deal about binding and loosing, he was referring to Peter, not the bishops as a whole. When he said "I prayed for you that you shall not be sifted as wheat", he was referring to the position that Peter held, not the bishops. When they say that the Pope "IS JUST ANOTHER BISHOP LIKE THE REST OF US", they are dead wrong. In fact, they are GRAVELY wrong.

All of the bishops, including cardinals, have a tremendous responsibility to follow Peter. To do otherwise is disobedience to Christ. Because, Our Lord said to Peter, 'those who hear YOU, hear me'.

Ladies and Gentlemen--THIS is the homosexual "lifestyle."

And this is the tame stuff; but just as shocking to me as this church celebrating the "pride" of faggotry is the great number of defenders of this deviancy among the ranks of FR. This became apparent to me today while pursuing another related thread. I started to wonder if I'd stumbled onto a Village Voice-sponsored BBS...

To begin with, if the Diocese is even considering sponsoring a parade that gives equal time to Courage and Dignity, I doubt that Courage would send a delegation. And If the Diocese is considering giving them equal status, I think we should call the Bishop on his statement about "fidelity to the teachings of the Church."

Just to be clear, Cleveland PRIDE 2002 is a weekendlong secular event celebrating sodomy. A parade is part of this. I don't think the Diocese helped organize it, but the Cleveland Diocese is obviously promoting it as evidenced by its website. As part of the weekendlong "celebration", there will be a Gay PRIDE Interfaith Service which also is being promoted on the Diocesan website.

I can tell you that it isn't. Courage folks do not use the terms "gay" or "lesbian." In Courage-terminology, they are people with SSA (Same-Sex Attraction). Those who Practice or Promote the Homosexual Agenda are called PPHA.

Any "Catholic" ministry to homosexual persons which uses the terms "gay" or "lesbian" is ipso facto suspect. Those terms, in and of themselves, denote promotion of the Gay Liberation agenda.

Those who act this way aren't practicing Catholicism. You could wonder the same thing for liberal protestants and Jews also--However, some people would rather just tear down the Church than help us rid her of the homosexuals. This reform will strengthen my church, and just like the reforms that occured during the protestant revolt, it will lead the Catholic Church to new glories. Wait and see.

I'm starting to wonder if there isn't something wrong with Catholics that they don't follow the teachings of Christ.

Remember, friend, even Christ's handpicked apostles let him down. Peter denied him three times; Judas betrayed him with a kiss.

The instructions from Rome are quite clear, the problem we have is age old disobediance.

I come from the San Francisco Bay Area where there was an initial founding of a Gay Catholic Church. Not many of those guys still live--a far greater death rate than we know. That should sure tell these guys something. Really chic huh?

From the Courage website

The Five Goals of Courage

The following five goals of Courage were created by the members themselves when Courage was founded.   The goals are read at the start of each meeting and practiced by every member in daily life.

1. Live chaste lives in accordance with the Roman Catholic Church's teaching on homosexuality.   (Chastity)

2. Dedicate ones life to Christ through service to others, spiritual reading, prayer, meditation, individual spiritual direction, frequent attendance at Mass, and the frequent reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist.   (Prayer and Dedication)

3. Foster a spirit of fellowship in which all may share thoughts and experiences, and so ensure that no one will have to face the problems of homosexuality alone.   (Fellowship)

4. Be mindful of the truth that chaste friendships are not only possible but necessary in a  chaste Christian life and in doing so provide encouragement to one another in forming and sustaining them.  (Support)

5. Live lives that may serve as good examples to others. (Good Example)

Thank you for the clarification. My conversation with my barber was a real eye opener, giving me pause to examine my own conscience on this issue. Here's a guy who works with flamers who tease him all day about his chastity and taunt him mercilessly with their deviance, yet he proudly displays a crucifix on his stand, spends an hour a day with the Blessed Sacrament, attends daily Mass -- in short, he's an exemplary Catholic. I want to make sure that he and the others don't get "discouraged" from their path or forgotten in the crossfire. At the present time, remembering Courage in our communications with the bishop is a way of showing these outstanding Catholics our support.

Again, thank you for your post.

I hope you're correct. I don't have anything against the faith but I am frustrated by the seemingly complete acceptance that is coming from the Catholic Clergy. That's the way it looks in this story at any rate.

One of the problems is that for at least thirty years we have had a vocations crisis. Homosexuals and other infiltrators have taken advantage of this to gain a foothold in the church to destroy her from within. It has happened before, especially prior to 1517, when simony and nepotism were prevalent.

We also have a spiritual crisis in this country and it is not just with liberal Catholics. It is the attitude of many who would rather rebel against all things spiritual and temporal, basking in moral liberalism and rejecting all truths.

What we need are prayers. We need our Christian brethren to pray for vocations--and our society needs prayers as well. This is just a tiny corner of the moral crisis this country is facing.
