Yeah record keepin' can be a real problem...when you got so many perverts in your church it's hard to remember them all so ya gotta keep good records...

But a Shanley supporter who organized the meeting and later co-founded NAMBLA insists that it has been mischaracterized, and that many different points of view on the subject were presented.

``It certainly was not some kind of a man-boy group,'' said the man, who goes by the pseudonym of Socrates.

Huh?

Thanks for the info. The issue now is restoring faith in the church. Any true Christian would gladly take momentary shame to ensure the saving of many thousands of souls. These guys need to come clean.

The documents, part of a larger group a judge earlier this month ordered turned over to Roderick MacLeish, a lawyer representing several alleged victims of Shanley, were located late last week by an unnamed archdiocesean staff member, the Rev. Christopher Coyne, said an archdiocesan spokesman.

This is a great sentence! The "unnamed staff member" is "the Rev. Christopher Coyne"?

That is one of the stupidest quotes I have seen in a long time. And to think he was so clueless as to allow himself to be quoted on it?!

Im sorry you feel this way... You apparently are perfect and know the "truth" that we all have been mistaken for thousands of years. But you know better...because you are zarf. Jesus bows to zarf and his all knowing ways...

Actually...Hmm..nevermind, Ill take Jesus over zarfism do to Jesus's unrelenting love and forgiveness.... Rather than zarfism that ridicules a whole for a few bad apples... Thanks for the offer though....

Jesus will forgive him as well as those who have lived a good , clean life.....so does any of this matter?

You make a fool out of yourself with your lack of knowledge of the Catholic faith.

Jesus will forgive him only if he is sincerely repentant.

There are a number of Roy Cohn types running around in gay circles...guys who are so obsessed with depravity that they can immediately identify any potential sexual weaknesses in others.

That's not to say that Law is a predator per se. These grunt-level priests can seemingly get away with anything short of doing snuff videos, but the same does not apply to Cardinals. Something as innocent as a relationship with an unmarried adult woman may be sufficient to bring one of these guys down.

The good news is now that we have the hardcore predators on the run, they may use the Barney Frank strategy and point the finger at any hypocritical superiors who move against them. There may be honor among thieves, but for these kinds of whackjobs "misery loves company" is more like it.

I agree with you 100%. It seems that quite a few of our Bishops and Cardinals have been more concerned with maintaining their titles and/or credibility by covering up crimes committed from within. If only they had been as concerned with maintaining the faith, which would have in turn given them the moral certitude to dispose of the evil priests (and lessened the possibility of them entering the priesthood in the first place) and in doing so would have given them more credibility in the eyes of those who count.

What could he have been thinking of all those years?

Apparently he was thinking that as long as the priest didn't get caught, it wasn't his problem. I don't see that Cardinal Law gave any thought at all to all the children this guy molested. Makes you wonder about the cardinel's real moral values doesn't it?

Roderick MacLeish, a lawyer representing several alleged victims of Shanley

Although Eric MacLeish does a lot of noble representation, it is also worth noting that he and his brethren "advocated" involuntary incarceration for mental illness nearly out of existence, leaving America with a homeless population of which 40 percent are in serious need of psychiatric housing and observation.

No need to wonder anymore, it's pretty clear. This is a test for the American Bishops. Few will pass.

I don't give a damn if this bastard priest eats dirt for the next hundred years and "truly repents" (whatever the hell that means)....there should be no forgiveness for any pervert who abuses a young child in this manner.

No just God would do so.

I hope he burns in hell for eternity with the rest of these preditorial bastards.

Our God forgives, but he also knows their hearts, and he sees the self-preservation that is going on - and the lack of true penance.

An archidioescan spokesperson is pictured here with new files
concerning Rev. Paul R. Shanley.  "We're angry about this.  We
don't know how it could have happened.  Could I get some
help here!"

Sure Hillary, sure...

And shouldn't those who compiled the files be prosecuted as well? This situation is outrageous. And the fact that the cardinals wouldn't adopt a zero tolerance policy is appalling.

If Jesus can forgive a piece of trash for raping a 13 year old child, then I want no part of him.

There is no amount repenting that can rescue this man from hell. To claim there is demeans those who live moral lives.
