CARO, Mich. (AP) -- A company that makes plastic parts for the auto industry plans to build an $11 million plant and create 150 jobs in this Thumb community, officials say.

Plastech Engineered Products Inc. is seeking $5.1 million in property tax relief for the project. The company, founded here in 1988, now is based in Dearborn and has 16 plants worldwide.

Plastech's a solid company. When my old employer moved its Strongsville, OH plant to Mexico, Plastech moved into the building and hired a bunch of the people that had worked for us. Good to see they're still going strong.

Good news for Caro!
Sugar imports continue to undermine the Thumb's economy, and many people can use the factory work to augment their family income.

I doubt that this will stimulate growth of the local economy to justify installation of light-rail mass-transit to Saginaw. The Mennonites in the area are going to have to stick to their horse & buggies. (I used to see them quite frequently in the Caro Wal-Mart whenever I thought it worthwhile to make the 35 mile trek to get there myself.)

I understand that the thumb is pushing for a high-speed buggy system which would eliminate the traffic jams from all the horse-pulled carriages and reduce ozone depleting flatulence. This regional transportation system would consist of one large buggy pulled by a team of thoroughbreds on steroids.

And what are YOU doing at Wal Mart? Shame, shame, shame.

And what are YOU doing at Wal Mart?

Boycotting a K-Mart that was 20 miles closer.

Ha!!!

Hey, maybe it's closing now anyway. I think Rosie O'Donnell sank the ship.

Well, that would be good news for the folks at Quality Farm & Fleet.

I hate to tell you this but Quality Farm and Fleet is no more. Most of their stores are closed and the remainder are being [have been] taken over by TSC [Tractor Supply Company].

I can't say specifically what happened to the one you are referring to, but it might be gone now.

Well, free enterprise will enable something to spring up.
The farmers will still demand their Carhartts, even if they're not farming much.
