BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - In an emotionally charged meeting, City Council members decided late Tuesday night not to divest from Israel and Palestinian areas and companies.
The debate, carried on over the shouts of protesters rallying outside City Hall, drew sharply divergent points of view.

Dean questioned ``how you boycott businesses in a state (Palestine) that doesn't exist,''

City Council members decided late Tuesday night not to divest from Israel and Palestinian areas and companies. Of course! Why pass a resolution recommending divesting from both sides, when you can pass one against Israel only?
Come on Bezerkly, if youre going to remain the weather vane of immorality, you'd better get on the ball!

Just another day in Berkeley.

Yup. Somehow I wound up standing on the wall in front of the city council shouting various not-nice things in Hebrew and Arabic at the Palestinian demonstrators while waving a large Israeli flag. It was a lot of fun, especially when the divestment vote failed. I have a roundup of various local newspaper reports over at
my blog.

Hmm, I wonder what getting suspended from college does to your student visa status?

This shouldn't come as a surprise. Berkeley is very heavily Jewish and Zionism is very popular.
