The liberals and the Libertarians sure hated Proposition 187.

THIS Proposition 187?

In November 1994, Californians passed an initiative, Proposition 187, cutting off some health and social services, including access to public education to illegal aliens and their children.

If that's the Proposition 187 you're talking about, I defy you to provide evidence that Libertarians "hated" that Proposition.

Hmmmmm...never mind, I found it myself (my apology for not looking harder).

I found a California Libertarian Party website that said this:

While Libertarians oppose government social services for everyone, including illegal immigrants, we don't believe in singling out one group of people for exclusion. This blatently racist measure would force employers, doctors, police officers and others to run people over to be deported. It would establish a "tamper-proof" identity card that would invade our privacy.

In my opinion, there are good points on both sides of this issue. I don't see how the measure is "blatantly racist," however. Unless it specifically deals with only one race of illegal immigrants.

The Libertarian Party voted to oppose Proposition 187. You didn't know that?
