Still wonder, though, why the ads don't produce a larger share of the market for them considering the massive audience for film. I have yet to see one of those attractive black Dell notebooks or desktops in a movie, but I hear the company is doing pretty well these days...
I often see others laptops on the screen. Both computers sell on price, and Macs usually cost more. Mac-heads aren't loyal to the box (as Apple found out with it's clone experiment) they get hooked on the OS.

I'm not aware of ANY LINUX distribution group which is interested in the Mac; I mean, let me know if I'm missing something.
There is an interest (maybe not among hardcore Linux users) in the MacOS as I pointed out earlier, among UNIX users. And it is precisely because Mac OS X is UNIX with a Mac GUI.

Visit an Apple store and take a look; you might find that Macs have an enormous appeal that really has to be seen to be appreciated. Apple users love their computers; if you just think your computer is a boring old tool, well, we pity you.
Do you think I care if some GAY HAIR SALON OWNING MAC USERS pity me? My case goes under the desk, and thus I don't care what it looks like. There is no need to pay 3x the money for half the power, and 1/1000th of the application support. It's hilarious how Macs have to go out of their way for Win emulation. That really says it all right there.
Mac is the homosexual's computer of choice!

Hey, I actually posted this web page, all of it, this morning.Alas, yes.
However, your post did not have the title which brought inflamed MAC users out of the woodwork!

Operating systems? The future of operating systems is LINUX. I was at a DC area LINUX users group meeting once at which RedHat reps were asked point blank if there would be linux ports for the Mac and they said, to the best of their knowledge, nobody in the LINUX world was interested in Macs. Actually, there IS a MAC distribution: Yellow Dog. However, Red Hat doesn't have one, so it doesn't suprise me that they wouldn't know of one... Interestingly enough, there is a Red Hat distribution out for IBM Mainframes now!

This may be the dumbest thing that I've seen or heard this week, and I've been dealing with some pretty stupid people!
"Win emulation?" This allows Macs to run Windows programs, something that's an afterthought. An add-on that allows to user to run some software that isn't available for the Mac. It's not meant to be used all the time. The fact that it runs at all is something.
A computer is a tool. Nothing more, nothing less. In the business world, you use what ever tool it is that gets the job done, at the lowest cost, and with the greatest productivity. That being said, the vast majority of graphic arts businesses historically used Macs. They still do. While Hallmark (you know, the card company) has many thousands of PCs that they use for business purposes, they do much of their graphics work on Macs, or on high end graphics workstations, like SGI systems. Go to any litho shop and see what they use for their art work... It'll probably be a Mac. Print shops? Macs. Kinkos? Macs and PCs, but they prefer Macs for their high volume stuff.
All that being said, I have never used a Mac. However, I've set up lots of networks that needed to have Mac access to the network resources. That's a nice thing about the new Novell NetWare 6 OS. It allows native Mac access to the server and other resources.

The future of operating systems is LINUX. Only among pencil-necked geeks.
Amongst the world's poor as well. That includes entire nations like India and Russia with huge pools of programming talent who simply cannot afford to be sending Gates and Co. an extra two hundred dollars every time they turn around.
Also amongst people who require robust and reliable software. LINUX can run for years without crashing; Win 2000 appears to be able to go for more than a few days without the blue screen, but it's a case of too little, too late. Moreover I actually do hear of cases of people replacing Solaris machines with LINUX machines simply for the greater reliability.
Sounds like the info I had on LINUX and the Mac was a bit dated; I'd assumed the situation would not change. I'd be curious to hear how they deal with all the LINUX software which uses three mouse buttons...

Calm down, guy.
The more homosexual guys there are, the more single women are left for the rest of us. Seems to me the ideal situation would be if all men but you and I were homosexual.
Encourage homosexuality - it's the best way for us to compete!
Macs are identified with creativity, not one sexual preference or another. And quite honestly, you don't sound like a creative guy, so I hope you enjoy your PC.

What sheer idiocy! These weirdo religionists are far beyond help.

He does have a point... the symbol of the Apple computer is an apple with a bite out of it. One could stretch a bit (no pun intended) and conjecture that this represents Mans fall from grace..even celebrates it. The apple bitten is the symbol of mans separation from God.Time to re-read your Bible. The "fruit" is never described as an apple, and --since apples are not native to the Middle East-- it is very unlikely that it was an apple. The myth that the fruit was an apple comes from northern European painters of the Renaissance.

I'd sell used cars for a living before I'd have anything to do with an Apple computer.OK - that is the dumbest thing I've read today!
