A lot of people are missing an important point here.
Le Pen is not anything similar to an American conservative. He's nothing like Ronald Reagan, Bill Buckley, Rush Limbaugh, the GOP leadership, or even Alan Keyes. He's not even Buchanan. He's closer to David Duke than anything else.
In other words, he's precisely what the liberal media would like to portray "conservatives" as being. And what a shock, they are hyping him as one.
Personally, I hope Chirac squashes him like the bug that he is.

It appears you understand that the French are trying to decide if they want to choose worse or worser.

If I equate Le Pen/Muslims with Duke/Blacks, then I can see why you would think that he is like David Duke. The difference is that American blacks are part of American culture while Algerian Muslims have chosen to live separate from French culture. David Duke is anti-American because blacks are definitly American. Algerians routinely boo the playing of the French national anthem. Algerian Muslims are violent towards French Jews. Algerian Muslims don't want to be French.
Do you have other information about Le Pen?

He's closer to David Duke than anything else. I agree. Once his changes are made..there's no going back. Sounds very much like Germany in the late 1930's.

Le Pen is not anything similar to an American conservative. But I would vote for an American presidential candidate with a similar platform in a New York minute.

You should list the similarities between Le Pen and Duke. You can't and won't do it. You just want to save your own bigoted a-- by smearing someone else without evidence.

Personally, I hope Chirac squashes him like the bug that he is. What, *specificly*, is it about him you don't like? Which policies? His personality? What?
It's okay not to like him and want to see Le Pen lose, but it would be nice if there were reasons behind such a stance that we could discuss.
