The head of the US episcopal conference Wilton Daniel Gregory said there was an ongoing struggle within the Catholic Church to ensure that the priesthood is not "dominated by homosexual men".
Gregory and Chicago Archbishop, Cardinal Francis George, told reporters that the issue of homosexual priests had been discussed in a solemn morning meeting between Pope John Paul II and US cardinals on the issue of paedophile priests.
"It is an ongoing struggle. It is most importantly a struggle to make sure that the Catholic priesthood is not dominated by homosexual men," Gregory told a news conference after the first session of talks which are to last until Wednesday.
"Not only that it is not dominated by homosexual men, but that the candidates we receive are healthy in every possible way, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually."
"That is the ongoing concern of seminaries."

Perhaps Rev. 1.0, Rev. 2.0 and Rev. 3.0 represent changes because the human race needs different solutions at different times.

I say you atheists are imposing YOUR religion on us Christians. Using the IRS, the Federal Prisons, and the NIH as your Church Elders and mafia.
I don't think most of the folks who voted those guys in office are atheists.
I am, however, a Libertarian, and therefore I oppose taxation for that and any other purpose. I'm much less of a socialist that you are, I am quite willing to wager.

If that's the way He wants it I'm sure not going to pick an argument with Him. That's nice, but any crank religionist could say the same thing about their delusional beliefs. Not very compelling testimony.

What about abortion doctors who are sport hunters? Are they fair game?
To: jlogajan
It means God has to keep adding revisions to his "divine" word. Well, according to Muslim apologists, Mohammed was the best and final of revisions by God. Anything else is just heresy.

Are they fair game? Only if you have the right license and tags. Remember - eat what you kill!
To: jlogajan
If you understand that Jesus was tortured and killed to save you from eternal punishment, and all you have to do is believe and obey Him to be saved from that, it is enough. Whatever you do with that information is your own deal. Let's hope eventually someday we get to meet in heaven. That would be cool.

So, only homosexuals want to be priests? That's a large hunk of bovine manure! There are good, intelligent men out there, willing to be celebit, willing to fulfill the duties of a priest, that don't get the opportunity because the homos fill the ceminaries! I'm not blaming this on faggots, I'm just bringing to light what has been discovered already. The priesthood, where I came from, was a noble, and honorable profession, and a profession that richly deserved the honor that they got. I was never hurt by a priest, unless I screwed up in school, which I did often, then they spanked by butt. It was, I assure you, well deserved, cause I was the demon seed in school, but I did yield the authority of corporal punishment...I am not an idiot!
The attack on the Church started lond ago. The liberal church members wanted complete control. Well, that's been done! His name was Henry the VIII, and it's now called the Episciopal Church. If these zealots want what they spew, go to the Episcipols. We will always be Catholic, as Christ gave his Rock, Peter, to establish His Church, he gave us the faith to preserve His word. This will not change, that is the word of Christ! PERIOD!.............Media....You can't change the word of God! You can lie, and you can swindle, but the more you do, the deeper into the pit of hell you go. I'll be playing golf in Heaven while you are burning in Hell....think about that!
This "crisis" means that we will have fewer priests with more resolve, and better morals, that will teach my children by example, that sounds good to me. Those a$$hole, pressitutes, don't understand....when God closes a door, He opens a window! Nothing that God does, doesn't have a "good thing" attached, and a happy ending.

Leviticus 18 22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
But the Catholic Church requires priests to be celibate, i.e. they can't "lie" with anyone.
Jackass.
To: NYer
The Catholic Church has had a homo-priest problem for decades. I do remember and article I think it was "Kansas City Star", some 5-6 yrs. ago, about the high incidence of "aids" among priests. It was something like 11% higher than the general population at large. Gee, how does that happen to supposedly celibate men?
The pieces of the puzzle are comming together. The church MUST address the problem of homosexual priests or they will only postpone further humiliation and falling away of parishioners. Trouble is, many of the Catholic Church hierarchy is homosexual. The fox is in charge of the henhouse.

The Church is in for a good pruning of dead wood, and the Pope is wielding the shears. May it grow back stronger and more faith-filled than ever. Amen!

Alan Keyes just had Sr. Maureen Fiedler, some lesbian from Dignity, and Bill Donohue of the Catholic League on to talk about the homosex abuse scandals in the Church. It was a scream.
To: HowlinglyMind-BendingAbsurdity
I can't believe I missed a chance to see Bill Donahue in action with Alan Keyes no less! Maybe I can catch a repeat.

I thought you religionists said it was the act, not the person. But as an athiest, it is none of your business in the first place.

After both liberal (lesbian?) guests defended homosexuality, Keyes and Donohue told them they should consider leaving the Church (or words to that effect). I think Donohue said, "join another religion." McBrien is coming on one of the cable shows next. CNBC maybe, Brian Williams?

Would they rather have heterosexual men? If so, why? Yes they would, last thing you want is priests, bishops etc having sex with one another... which is exactly what has been going on and why this whole pedophile thing has been swept under the rug as bad as it has been. Subculture of homosexuality pervades the priesthood in the US.. promotions, assignments etc are based on favors, and blackmail as well... Its a mess, and I for one am glad to see light is being shined on this problem..

Richard McBrien is scheduled as a guest on CNBC with Brian Williams (now).
