Freedom Party. The staunchly anti-immigrant party of rightist Joerg Haider joined Austria's coalition government in 2000, prompting the European Union to hit the alpine nation with seven months of punishing sanctions. Although support has eroded from 27 percent to 16 percent, the party remains part of the ruling coalition, and Haider frequently has been criticized for statements perceived as anti-foreigner or anti-Semitic.

Has there ever been a reference in the NYT/Washington Post/Boston Globe, or on CBSNBCABC, to an "extreme left" party, or a "far left" party?

Was the CPSU ever referred to in this way?

How did they leave out the British Loony Party? Isn't that the one that prohibits campaigning anywhere except in bars?

There is no extreme left because no matter how left a party is, it's not left enough for the liberal media elite. For reference see The Official New York Times Guidebook for Descriptive Writing*: "Ralph Nader - progressive, environmentalist, consumer advocate, presidential candidate, moderate."

* For humorous effect only; no such guidbook exists

That would be the Raving Loony Party, led by Screaming Lord Sutch.

He brought a measure of dignity to the sordid proceedings of British political life.

Ahhh! Thanks for the clarification. I always thought it sounded like my kind of campaigning.

Given these descriptions, these parties are nationalists. Since when did nationalists become the far right? What do the pundits mean by right?

It's socialist sloganeering. Socialists are collectivists. Collectivists are the left. The opposite are those who do not collect, the individualists, who look out for their own interests. The individual is the right.

Nationalists are collectivists who come together usually as the dominant ethnic group. This is not the right, but it may be fascism. The socialist pigs call it the far right of fascism to demonize their collectivist and individualistic competitors.

The only defense the right has is for individuals to unite for a brief time to wipe out collectivist thugs. Sadly, no one will take seriously anyone running about, "Individuals Unite!"
