I wonder if the sudden re-emergeance of anti-semitism throughout Europe isn't related to the recent swing to the right politically. Establishing a scapegoat in the form of the "The Jews" (or "The Muslims" in the case of France) is historically used by demagogues to solidify their seat in power as the "purgers of the evil within".

Certainly the European press has NOT been more supportive of Israel than the Palestinian Muslims, which raise the question: Are they a shadow of a declining political force? Or, are they a reflection of a rising tide.

There was a post-election interview with Le Pen on CNN International tonight where he described himself as "socially left" and "economically right". In addition, he linked French unemployment with immigration and Socialist economic policy.

It is not the Right that's virulently opposed to Israel and the Jews in Europe and elsewhere it’s the Left and their allies in the Muslim community. His election would be a blow to the forces that are primarily lined up against the Jews.

The Jews probably face a much more secure future, in fact, if someone like Le Pen comes to power. I don't see how it does them or Israel any good to have France or Italy or Spain as a MAJORITY muslim nation as each of them is becoming.

That's provided he's not some Hitlerite, but I don't know enough, and I really don't trust the media who will smear anyone with that brush if they even hint they are opposed to mass immigration.

Sounds more like sour grapes than anything else. Jews are mostly on the left or far left. When countries move right and they don't, you hear this whining about antisemitism when all that occurs is more and more people don't agree with their political philosophy. Now the Muslims...that is a different matter.
