I was a teen in Galveston during Splash Days and it got way out of hand. Local kids were getting in trouble by going to the hotel parties and drinking, having sex, and falling off balconies.

The "City Fathers" banned it and so the city worked for about twenty years to turn Galveston back into a family type tourist destination. It's working, except for the annual invasion which takes away thousands of dollars and does retched word of mouth damage.

"City Fathers" are threatened with lawsuits now because this is for black "kids" and we "have no right to inhibit or restrict this demonstration of freedom".
