The only thing Carter ever did for this country was allow the Pershing II to be developed so RR could deploy it and allowed the development of the Neutron bomb.

Of course, none where built the idea was out there.

I made a strong effort to persuade the leaders of Hamas to accept the election results, with Mr. Arafat as their leader. I relayed a message offering them full participation in the process of developing a permanent constitutional framework for the new political entity, but they refused to accept this proposal. ..
Even when he was free and enjoying the full trappings of political power, Yasir Arafat never exerted control over Hamas

Mr Carter this is why:
"Israeli support for Islamic extremists, as an opposition force to the secular pro-PLO movement, eventually blew up in Israel's face. Hamas, for example, which was born out of the Moslem Brotherhood with Israeli encouragement, is to this day a central factor in the Palestinian resistance and political system."

Fortunately, Jimmy Carter is irrelevant.

Hi there!! Poor Jimmy has the dubious honour of making clinton look like Teddy Roosevelt ;-)Somehow when Jimmy heads to the subsidized peanut farm in the sky, there won't be a day of national mourning, except maybe in Tehran ;-)

Be well, now, Tomkat :-)

Carter may have his geography confused. Maybe he confuses Lebanan with Syria. And the Gaza Strip with Eqypt.

Well, he's still an idiot, God love him.

Where I'm from the phrase is, Bless His heart!

By the way you can say anything even something very distasteful, if you include that get-out-of-jail-free phrase.

The man is lame city. But then I already knew that. In fact I have known that for about 25 years.

Now on this we agree completely. Great post - maximum economy of words yet maximum exposure of windbag as such.

And he certainly wasn't interested in beefing up defense, defeating the evil empire, cutting taxes (which were then really high, but you probably don't remember),

Make that really, really, REALLY high.

and certainly wasn't interested in, or incapable of, raising American's spirits, restoring their elan, and making themselves feel good about themselves and their country. It was time for a change.

I will never forget the "malaise" speech. I was in a very blue-collar bar in Cincinnati, surrounded by union types that had probably voted for Carter, and the speech was playing on the television above the bar. Everyone around me was watching it, and they all wore expressions of resigned disgust on their faces.

I knew that night that Carter wasn't going to be around for a second term.

Carter, although an officer in the Naval Reserve, presided over the near destruction of our military. It is a fact that many ships could not make it from S.F. to Hawaii without breaking down because of the lack of spare parts and maintenance under his regime. He, as the commander in chief, was pathetic.

You might also recall that the Iran hostage crisis occured under his watch. Why? Because he was perceived as weak-kneed and emasculated. Which was true. Those embassy people went through hell because of his fecklessness.

And, because of Clinton's cowardice and fecklessness, we are now dealing with this mess.

Jimmuh Katar is a decent man...

Interesting moral question here. Just how big a self-righteous windbag can a man be, and still be a "decent man"?

A question for the ages. I just wish he'd shut up.

Do you think, perhaps, Carter is senile?

Umm, excuse me, Jimmy, but, it's not Israel that needs to be persuaded to make a just peace, it's the assholes that they are taking a proactive stand against, who just happen to be in the same group as those who levelled the WTC. You do remember the World Trade Center, don't you Jimmy?

Jimmy Carter and his buddies are morons, because the PLO wants to destroy Israel not make peace

Safiyah, the Jewish Wife of Muhammad
Safiyah had requested the Prophet to wait till he had gone a stage away from Khaibar. "Why?" asked the Prophet. "I was afraid for you on account of the Jews who still happened to be near at Khaibar!"
The reason Safiyah rejected the sexual advances of the 57-year-old Muhammad should be obvious to any objective person. I believe most women prefer to mourn than jump into bed with the killer of their father, husband and many relatives on the same day of their death. But the fact that the prophet of Allah could not contain his sexual urges for one day to let this young girl grieve, says a lot of his thinking and moral character.LINK
