Even when he was free and enjoying the full trappings of political power, Yasir Arafat never exerted control over Hamas and other radical Palestinians who reject the concept of a peaceful Israeli existence and adopt any means to accomplish their goal.

That's because Yassir Arafat agrees with their goal of the destruction of Israel. Jimmy Carter, because he is a liberal, cannot get it through his head that not everyone negotiates honestly like he does. Not everyone wants peace. Not everyone can be reasoned with. The left loves to talk, and they become little more than useful pawns.

Jimmy Carter: America Can Persuade Israel to Make a Just Peace

The problem isn't Israel. Leave it to Jimmy Carter to get things exactly backwards.

I have one question for Jimmy Carter, who ran against Yasser Arafat in the election?

So Carter did good by appointing Volker at the tail end? So what? How was he doing otherwise vis a vis the economy? How was he doing period? And he certainly wasn't interested in beefing up defense, defeating the evil empire, cutting taxes (which were then really high, but you probably don't remember), and certainly wasn't interested in, or incapable of, raising American's spirits, restoring their elan, and making themselves feel good about themselves and their country. It was time for a change. And the force was with us, we got lucky, and the change that was needed came. In hindsight, that change was just what the doctor ordered.

And that is not just my opinion, but that of liberal historians, almost all of whom even at this relatively early date, rank Reagan way above Carter. Carter's ranking will also be near Taft's. And there isn't a damn thing he can do about it, Volker notwithstanding.

Jimmy Carter, Jimmy Carter ... I can't quite place the name, but I have a real bad mojo about it.

I remember him; he was in the news last week....he is the ex-President going to visit Castro. You remember Castro, he is the man who sinks boats, drowning men, women & children trying to escape his totalitarian state.

Yet peanut brain says ....Tragically, the policies of Mr. Sharon have greatly strengthened these criminal elements, enhanced their popular support, and encouraged misguided young men and women to sacrifice their own lives in attacking innocent Israeli citizens. ...

IOW, peanut brain blames Sharon for the actions of the homicidal bombers. When did I fall through the looking glass?

Carter may still delude himself, but he was only the tool of Sadat and Begin in setting up the normalization of relgions between Egypt and Israel. Arafat is no Sadat: he does not want peace.

[Carter] was the President that set the framework for economic change in this country

You are correct. It was his total ineptness that got Ronald Reagan elected, whose taxcuts set the stage for about 17 years of unparalleled growth. Thank you, Jimmy Carter!

One last question before you leave or get booted (which ever comes first). Did you just get home from the Rally today?

No peace that Jimm-uh uh-Caw-tuh, would accept, would be anything that was just, nor would it be anything that would result in the continued existence of Israel beyond a five-to-ten year period of Death on the Installment Plan.

There is no room for another Arab sovereignty in the Middle East; there are too many already. If the Pallies require "protection," it is mainly against their own stupidity and murderous blood-lust and irrational hatred of Jews.

Such protection MIGHT just come from Jordan or Egypt, as long as the USA had a big gun pointed at the head of either, safety off, cocked locked and loaded. Otherwise those nations would just conspire with the Pallies to kill more Jews.
