Roughly one quarter of the families in Texas owned slaves in 1860 so considerably more than 2% of the Texas soldiers no doubt enjoyed the benefits of slavery. You know that's interesting. Roughly one quarter of all blacks in New Orleans owned slaves, not to mention one of the largest slave holders in SC was black, as well as 69 black slaveowners in NC, not to mention those good folks in Charleston. Man!! Just coming out of the woodworks. What's Jesse going to do? He pushes reparations, he'll have to start asking African-Americans if their families were slaveholders or slaves. Whatever happens, don't worry Non, I'll be at the front of the line of the folks making sure that question doesn't come up. We can't let the truth getting out now can we? After 140 years, the myth is so big!!

I can live with the truth, billbears, but it appears that southerners can't. Y'all spend so much time revising history and all. Like this Texas thing, for example.

Hey what happened to our Happy Redneck Loser day thread? I guess it must have gotten out of hand after I went to lunch, I came back and it had been deleted.
