A tasteless cartoon, but the Church hierarchy asked for it.

It doesn't insult just the members of the hierarchy who did evil things. It insults all Catholics everywhere. How would you feel about a cartoon which implied that all Americans liked to adulterate with the hired help? After all, Billybob Clinton did it, so it must be okay to imply that all Americans are as depraved as he is, right?

Anti-Catholicism is the only prejudice that is alive and well and approved by the mainstream in America, on both the Left and the Right. In todays society you have to be a pervert of some sort, a deviate, a witch/warlock, an atheist, a socialist or communist to get fair treatment from your media or governments around the world.

In fact, I'm more insulted by the inaction of the Church leadership. Their willingness to allow--even condone!--this perversion is the real insult that has been inflicted upon all Catholics.

The cartoon doesn't hurt anybody, doesn't molest anybody, doesn't cause hush money to be stolen from weekly collections and paid to the victims of the the Bishops' and Cardinals' inaction. The cartoon was only made possible by our failed leadership and if it causes Catholics to react and in a sense of outrage demand a change, I say "More cartoons!"
