And who gets to decide which informationis "significant?" And to which side? One suspects what was "lost" was probably not particularly helpful to the State's case.

That which does not help the prosecutor's case is often "misplaced". I say charge those responsible for the materials with destruction of evidence (whoever has currently signed off on "possession" of evidence). That would light a fire under their butts to find the materials.

I hold this to all cases big and small.
