Nearly 18 months after Florida's election chaos made her a household name, Katherine Harris remains a lightning rod for controversy as she turns her sights on a seat in Congress.

Among the palm trees and BMWs in this staunch Republican bastion, the mere mention of Harris' name provokes torrents of outrage, wonder and gossip -- often all at once.

Tongues wagging? How about Wallets opening! We should send this lady every penny we can spare for her campaign! She is a HEROINE deserving the thanks of a nation for helping to ensure the Goron election fraud attempt failed! Weaker people would have surrendered long ago to the all out frontal assault she experienced while taking a stand based on LAW and PRINCIPLE!

On the Republican side, computer consultant Chester Flake and former TV anchorman John Hill are running against Harris.

Chester Flake, huh? Now THAT name inspires voter confidence........ yeah, sure. Sorry, I'm still laughing.... can't help myself!

Could someone answer something for me? Did I hear correctly that John Kerry recently made cracks about Katherine Harris's make-up and appearance at a public appearance he made? If a Pubbie had done this, wouldn't NOW and the Dems be raising unholy heck? Did anyone else hear anything about this?

Should we? Hers' is a safe district. Why not direct scarce resources to marginal seats with a conservative R opposing a liberal D?

During a Schneider fund-raiser at a Sarasota golf club, Democrats said they were heartened by the recent flap over Harris's efforts to attend a Gingrich banquet at the Tiger Bay Club, a local group featuring political speakers.

The club's Republican president, Marj Baldwin…

She’s the president of a country club speakers society, attending a fundraiser for a Democrat, so I take her claim that she is a “Republican” with a HUGE grain of salt. She’s one of those “Republicans” who voted for Clinton twice and Gore (or Buchanan, accidently) at least once.

No district is "safe" when Rats are counting the votes. Of course, $$$ should go where it is needed and to whom one desires. I desire to support a heroine. You bring us info on other candidates who need help and I am sure there will be people here ready to open their wallets for these candidates as well.

I will say this - if we sit back and "assume" people are going to do the sensible thing and elect candidates who support a strong military, reducing taxes, and keeping America free and safe - we will be sorely disappointed come this November. The RATS are hoping we are all either pre-occupied with the war on terror OR with the economy OR are sitting back content with things as they are - so we will NOT get involved NOW in the elections for this November.

Not all of us can serve in the military or other front line ways to serve our country. But all of us can get involved politically if we will just make the effort.

If we are lazy or stubborn or just "Pouting" about one issue or another - fine. Let Daschle and Gephardt and Hillary CLinton be in charge the next 2 years in the House and Senate and watch what happens to our country.
