Democrat Congressional candidate suspended
Palm Beach Post ^ | Wednesday, April 17, 2002 | Bill Douthat and George Bennett

Congressional candidate and sheriff's Capt. Ken Eggleston was suspended with pay Tuesday as Palm Beach County Sheriff Ed Bieluch ordered an investigation into allegations of Eggleston politicking in uniform.

The suspension is a blow to Eggleston's long-shot campaign to unseat Rep. Mark Foley, R-West Palm Beach, in this year's elections. Democrats in Washington have said Eggleston's race is one of their "top priorities"

Why would illegalities or a suspension stop the dems from voting for a candidate.

Edmund Burke said that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Palm Beach is still looking for a few good men.

That why I didn't comment. It might even help him.

Under suspension, he cannot leave his home during working hours nor identify himself in public as a sheriff's employee. He also had to turn over the keys to his take-home sheriff's car.

Since he didn't follow the rules in the first instance, anyone think he'll follow the rules in the second?

Palm Beach Co. is a lost cause. Doesn't its Democrat allegiance go back to the Kennedy compound once being located there. People in Palm Beach Co. just can't get enough of the Kennedys, including William Kennedy Smith et al.

I wouldn't put too much in Kennedy's being here. They were never all that popular esp. with old money in Palm Beach. There is a very liberal left, remember we have Hastings, Wexler and now Carol Roberts running it gets worse. Pres Bush Grandmother Dorothy Walker Bush also lived here, 41 visited a lot when he was Pres.
