Germany deliberately attacked us, Japan deliberately attacked us... but we are now close countries (if competitive) and we have spent billions to rebuild their countries. Things change, people change, relationships change and alliances change. It's not the same time, not the same people, not the same geopolitical concerns for either party. Israel apologized and paid reparations. Those are acts of contrition and the right thing to do is accept the contrition and move on.
