Powell: However Long IDF Operation Lasts, It Won't End Terror

By Aluf Benn and Natan Guttman, Ha'aretz Correspondents, Ha'aretz Service and agencies

Hours before arriving in Israel, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said that even if Prime Minister Ariel Sharon pressed ahead with the IDF's military offensive in the West Bank, it would not end terror.

"However long the Israeli incursion continues, the problems will still be there," he said, adding that even if Israel is effective, "there will still be people willing to resort to violence and suicide bombings... The violence and anger and frustration which feeds that will still be there unless we find a negotiating process" that leads to a Palestinian state.

Colon Bowell just can't help it, his natural inclination is to appease and reward terror. The U.S.'s anti-terror campaign won't end terror either, in a few weeks. Maybe we should negotiate. Bowell is meeting with a terrorist and he knows it, but it would anger our Arab non-allies and European non-allies if he doesn't. Colon Bowell is an appeaser of the first class.

He's right. It won't. It's amazing. He served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, yet he has never heard of the word "VICTORY".

It's disrupted the terrorist network and the number of mass murders in Israel have been decreased from one or two a day to one in 8-10 days. Today, the IDF caught a female mass murderer in Jenin trying to disguise herself as a pregnant woman. There was just a report on CNN by Ben Wedeman that another mass murderer accidently sent himself off, killing himself & injuring other Palestinians.

Unless Powell wants Israel to go back to one to two mass murderers a day trying to kill Israelis versus one every week and a half, he ought to lay off the Israelis until the IDF operation is over.

How would you feel if our government decided not to respond militarily to 9/11?

What was Powell's answer to that question? "Let's talk"?

Unless this is some sort of good/bad cop thing, a house cleaning of all the limp di**s at the State Department is long overdue.

OK, let's try to understand the anger and frustration of Osama bin Laden.

Colin Powell suggests helping terrorists from Baghdad to the West Bank.

Really? Then what is the U.S military doing in Afghanistan if there is in fact no military solution to terrorism? It seems more Do As I Say Not Do As I Do rhetoric from Powell. Fortunately, the Israelis know better and are proceeding accordingly.

I never said that Israel shouldn't take actions and I've never defended the terrorist actions. I was replying to tomahawk and pointing out that like it or not Powell was right. Nothing the Israeli's do short of the wholesale massacre of 95% of the population like ALfreeper would like to see will end the terrorist actions. And even then there would be some in the remaining 5% who would try something.

So Mr. Powell, should we then extrapolate ...

However long Endirung Freedom lasts, it will not stop terror?

A successful completion of those operations (Ours and the Israelis) will defeat the terrorists. It's called winning. Then, if more pop up their ugly heads, we give them more of the same.

This is horse puckey and is just more of the game they are playing to try and hold onto the "coalition" while appearing to distance ourselves from Israel ... but buying them the time to get something done. The problem is that such statements are so patently geared towards the duplicit game that they destroy our own credibility with others IMHO.

Like I just said on another thread, this idiot is a fool and will only help in making Bush look like a fool if he meets with the terrorist there. What is he thinking? Hell send the 2 Clintons over to meet with Arafat. That would go as good as this will. LOL

Powell needs to retire to some island and think about when Doves fly!

Earth to WH, this is a war between Islam and the World. Not terror, Islam is the enemy! Wake up. Deport this hate religion from America, now!

unless we find a negotiating process" that leads to a Palestinian state.

Why? There was never a Palestinian State. Let them all go to hell, where they belong.

PS:There won't be a Palestinian State next to the Jews, ever again.

Well he's right. It won't.

Nor will our little excursions. Maybe you think we should call off the attacks and start sending the Islamists thirteen year old girls to molest if they will leave us alone?

Given the Islamist mentality, every Palestinian the Israelis kill is another brick in the ediface of "peace in our time."
