I had to post the entire article as a setup to get to the punchline.
Iraq also has called on Arab and Islamic countries to impose an embargo on the United States and other allies of Israel. Iran and Libya have expressed interest in the proposal.
All three nations considering embargo only export terrorism! We don't even have to build a line of "death" around them! Gosh, what a nice day this is!

All hell is gonna break out this weekend after Yasser refuses to condem his terrorism !

Yup and the US can say that they tried to reason with Arafat and even coming to him with no pre-conditions or expectations. After that happens, I think that we will totally give up on Arafat claiming he really doesn't want peace and let Israel loose for good.

Why is Colon Bowell going to meet with a terrorist and an ally of Saddam Hussein? Because he has allowed Arafat and Hussein to manipulate him, that's why. Pathetic.

What makes you think Colon Bowell will demand Arafat renounce terrorism? He will ask him to, and Arafat will say no. Then Bowell will settle for Arafat promising to try to reduce violence. An utterly meaningless promise.

wipe the smudge of Iraq from the annals of history. Iceman, I think you meant to spell that with a "nus" instead of "nals"*knowing smirk

This article is the next best laugh of the day. The first best is on WND, Stratfor's latest shi'ite. Trouble in the South of Israel.....strained troops and all that. Cute.

Iraq's military has launched plans to attack Israel in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority Please do .... that's just another form of national suicide.
I'll looking forward to buying oil at really cheap rates from the Israeli Empire in the future.

An attack by Iraqi ground troops sounds nuts at first blush, but there may be some twisted logic to it. The last time Saddam was in trouble he launched Scuds at Israel to drum up sympathy from the Arab world and divert attention from his aggession against Kuwait. If Saddam wraps his arms real tight around Arafat and the Pali's he can claim the US and UK are attacking him not to take out his WMD's but to support Israel, which would make it real tough for Arab countries to support our move against Iraq. There is little risk to Iraq right now - we aren't in position to strike and the Israelis could not send an occupying force to Iraq, it would stretch them too thin. So the only downside to Saddam is sending a few thousand troops to their deaths, which is obviously no problem for him or his Arab friends. The only issue in doubt is whether Syria or Jordan would give Iraqi units passage.
I wish this didn't make sense.

The Saddam regime has called for the mobilization of 6.5 million volunteers in the war against the Jewish state
Israel may not mess around. A few nukes, and 6.5 million can become zero in short order.

I am as disgusted with Powell meeting Arafat as you are. However, when nothing comes of this meeting then the US can say it did all it could with no results from Arafat and kiss him off!

I think it would be very stupid. First, the israeli air force would destroy all of his mechanized divisions. Second, the US would be able to go through Israel and Jordan to take him out. Third, the Israeli and US forces fighting side by side (as they should be) would be effing awesome.
To: colorado tanker
Okay, I'm sobering up now. I don't like the thought of US or Israeli soldiers dying. But imagine Saddam's surprise if We could trap his "invading" army between Israel and Iraq! It would make the "highway of Death" from Desert Storm look like a fender-bender!
I've met a gentleman who was an antitank specialist in the IDF who was "invited" to return to Israel from the US expressly to wipe out an Arab tank unit that got trapped in a valley on the Israeli border. His reward for service was to be the mensch who pulled the trigger on every missile...they killed every tank without a single casualty...
Now THAT's entertainment!

>What makes you think Colon Bowell will demand Arafat renounce terrorism? He will ask him to, and Arafat will say no. See, now here I think you may be wrong.
I think Arafat will denounce terrorism.
I think Arafat will make a moving speech in Basque, followed by a clarification in Esperanto, and finally a long summing up in that language Alex spoke in Clockwork Orange.
By an inexplicable coincidence, the BabelfishAltaVista server will be down for the Middle East at the time...

You're right, from a rational, Western point of view, it would be stupid. But from Saddam's point of view the objective would be for his troops to die for the cause of Palestinian independence, to twin Saddam with Arafat and deprive the US of any support from Europe or the Middle East for an attack on Iraq by claiming it's all a plot to support Israel against the Arab world.
To: sleavelessinseattle
"That's entertainment." LOL! I wonder if that's the same battle I heard about where by the end the expended TOW wires were so thick you couldn't get a hand around them?
