Lawmakers in Maryland have killed a bill that would have made some white men eligible for so-called "affirmative action" by including them in the definition of socially disadvantaged.
The Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affairs committee voted 10-1 Thursday to reject changing the taxpayer-funded Minority Business Preference program to help non-minority males in economically stunted areas, Fox News reported today.

If a white Appalachian wants to better himself, all he needs to do is "put his overalls aside and put on a suit," claimed Sen. Clarence W. Blount, D-Baltimore, chairman of the committee.
"He'll be welcomed anywhere," Blount said, because of his "prized" place. Nonwhites, he claimed, can't do that. "It's just the way life is."
The Baltimore Democrat failed to mention that impoverished Koreans, Vietnamese and other nonwhite immigrants are somehow able to move to America, open stores and restaurants in black neighborhoods and send the second generation to college.

No kidding! It's funny that this (presumably) black representative thinks it's so easy for us white "crackers" to make it in the business world. If all it takes is for me to exchange my overalls (or jeans) for a suit to make it in the business world, you'd think that we'd ALL be rich by now...
The amazing thing (to me) is that there are IDIOTS out there dumber than this DOLT; the MORONS who ELECTED him to office.

Until he opens his mouth, and reveals the hick accent and third grade vocabulary. White hiring managers might let that slide in a minority candidate - if he is white, forget it.
This confirms what I've known all along. "Affirmative Action" quotas were not intended to help the "socially disadvantaged," as much as they were intended to punish White males. This is blatant reverse discrimination!
i mysteriously got laid off from a large company (which makes copiers) along with most other people my age (they kept the 20 somethings on up to 35--the cut off). i made employee of the month at my entry level technical support position every month that i was there (18) and had customers begging them not to lay me off because i was the only one that "knew what i was doing."
now i'm unemployed and taking the A+/N+ computer course. i sit next to a 32 year old with a bachelor's and it never fails to amaze me how dumb she is! it makes me ashamed to be female! BTW, the guy that laid me off was a 25 year old mgr with a bachelor's degree. . .
the slowest people in the class are the youngest ones with the degrees (one even has a master's in psychology and she is the slowest of them all!)
He ment to say, put his overalls aside and put on a suite, get a Bachelors degree, and a Masters degree. Next time your in your office count how many white males are there without bachlors degrees. Can you say zero. Next, count how many people, that are not white males, that work in your office without a Bachelors degree.
