You are welcome. But,tt is somewhat difficult to have reasonable colloquey with someone who uses sarcasm to such an extent.

At any rate, one point to consider: in the revolutionary war, as I am sure you are probably aware, the fledgling United States bought arms with massive infusions of French francs. It is not historically unusual nor surprising that a rich nation will help a poorer nation when it is in their mutal interest.

As far as your obvious disdain for the source of the article, the points contained therein rest on their own merit.

"What makes you think Powell was sent to enforce a pull-out?"

It's a deduction based on the fact that soon after the Israeli operation began, the world started wailing about how Israel must stop this horror and leave the "occupied" territories. And on the heels of that, Bush appeared ready to engage and demanded that Israel stop operations and move out. I suppose he said this because of world pressure....and it wouldn't look right trying to make peace while Israel was rounding up terrorists. So I assumed Powell's job was to try and make some peace...and he needed things quiet. Are you implying that Bush didn't send him to Israel to make peace. Do you think Bush and Powell might have a trick up their sleeve?

"Assuming you feel we should be assisting Israel, why do they need us?"

I actually think that we are an obstacle to peace in the region because we will not let Israel deal effectively with the Palestinians. The Israelis are perfectly capable of taking care of the Palestinians if we would just leave them alone.

However, I would send in the AC-130s and Daisy Cutters just for the opportunity to kill thousands of Islamist who have targetted Americans, not just Israelis, for slaughter.

Some of us have survival skills, some of us don't.

How stupid it was for the Bush administration to try to force peace by bringing in Powell now.

You think that is what is going on? We aren't bearing the sword of peace on this trip... not really.

Do you believe EVERYTHING you THINK you hear?

SEE what we actually DO, NOT what we say. The game is afoot... deceit is part of the ploy. Israel will get slapped around.

Israel will follow our commands to the extent that they can accomplish their security goals, AND ours in the area, and still quit in time to fulfill their part of bush's mandate. AS for the arab states that BUSH has commanded to publicly in ARABIC denounce the terrorist bombers and also repudiate the removal of the Zionist entity by murder and terror from "arab" lands... neither will EVER happen.

Those nations that do not comply, except for israel... who is doing EXACTLY what they have agreed to do via back channels... will be targetted for "democratization"... that is to say... the end of non-democratic, pseudo theocracies that are actually non elected dictatorships in the middle east. The eleventh century "warlord" feudal system of middle eastern, arabic governments is over.

It's not just about Israel. It's about democratization of an uncivilized and ignorant people by force... that is neccesary to make the middle east SAFE for Israel.

As soon as Israel is done, they will stop... meanwhile WE are going after the hydra...
