Texas Republican Ron Paul was the U.S. House member most committed last year kto reducing or controlling federal spending, taxes, deft, and legistation, according to the National Taxpayers Union's annualrating of Congress. Paul claimed the top spot in the House for the third consecutive year.

The rating, which isbased on roll-call votes affecting fiscal policy, assigns a "Taypayer Score" to each member of Congress. Paul scored 88 percent. His fellow, Central Texas Republican, Lamar Smith, scored 61 percent. Austin's rep Democrat Lloyd Doggett, scored 21 percent.

In the Senate, Texas Republicans Phil Gramm and Kay Baily Hutchison scored 87 percent and 79 percent, repectively.

By the way, the union declared Senator Hilliary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., the biggest spender in Congress last year with a score of 3 percent!

Few of the Libertarian Party bashers will dare admit that they know that Ron Paul was an LP presidential candidate a few election cycles back. Ron Paul is a man of principle, not a "druggie seeking only to legalize the hemp." He was and continues to be well regarded by Libertarians and as far as I know, the feeling is mutual.

He's my congressman too, now that i was redsitricted out of Lloyd Doggett's district. how did those 2 do?

Answer my own Question: I see Smith got a rating of 61%, Doggett 21%.

I think someone should develop a system (which obviously would never be adopted but at least would cause discussion)
whereby people in the districts/states of Congressmen who save us money receive rebates and
those in districts/states of Congressmen who vote to spend too much are assessed extra, proportionally.
