VeriChip--TM-- to be Featured On
NBC's Today Show Monday
Morning, April 8, 2002

Applied Digital's President and Chief Technology Officer to be interviewed along with Florida family that wants to ``get chipped(TM)''

PALM BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2002-- Applied Digital Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSX - news), an advanced technology development company, announced that VeriChip will be featured on NBC's Today Show on Monday morning, April 8, 2002.

VeriChip is a miniaturized, implantable, radio frequency identification device (RFID) that can be used in a variety of security, emergency and healthcare applications.

Scott R. Silverman, President of Applied Digital Solutions, and Keith Bolton, the company's Chief Technology Officer, will be interviewed about the technology's applications, recent FDA guidance and market potential. Also on the program will be the three-member Jacobs family from South Florida. The Jacobs family will be the first family to ``get chipped(TM)'' with the VeriChip device.

On April 4, 2002, the company announced that it has received written guidance that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not consider VeriChip to be a regulated medical device. This clears the way for the company to begin sales, marketing and distribution of VeriChip in the United States. In about four weeks, the Jacobs family will become the first family in history to ``get chipped.'' A specific date and time for the chipping procedure will be announced soon.

About VeriChip(TM)

VeriChip, first announced on December 19, 2001, is a miniaturized, implantable, radio frequency identification device (RFID) that can be used in a variety of security, emergency and healthcare applications. About the size of a grain of rice, each VeriChip is composed of FDA-accepted materials and contains a unique verification number. That number is captured by briefly passing a proprietary, external scanner over the VeriChip. A small amount of radio frequency energy passes through the skin energizing the dormant VeriChip, which then emits a radio frequency signal transmitting the verification number. VeriChip Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Applied Digital Solutions, was established on February 7, 2002.

You just know that Matt, Katey, and the rest of the Today gang will be all in favor of this 'exciting, new, improvement' for our lives and loved ones; especially the good things this will mean that Government will be able to provide for us all in it's benificence.

This was posted to the TF50 by buckeye63, but I thought it worthy of a broader exposure to the Forum at large.

If there is anyone here who favors any Government involvement in this type of endeavor, please give us your ideas and justifications.

I read elsewhere today of a promotion of new technology to brainwave-print all persons.

Combine the two together along with research to perform two way communication in neurological interfaces and I suspect we have the foundation for the meaning of '666'.

I don't have a problem with this in private hands.

My Mother was in a nursing home, suffering with Alzheimer's, and went for a walk one day; out the back door and across the road to sit in the park ~ at three in the morning. They fitted all of the outer doors with electronic locks, and a sensor that she wore on her wrist like a watch that locked them if she tried to go through alone.

That isn't needed for everyone, but the government would probably mandate them for everyone, or more likely that only 'authorized' people have enabling passes instead.

I HAVE A HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING how anyone can read The Bible about the mark of the beast and still fail to see the dark hand writing on the wall regarding this technology.

Oh, that's right. None are so blind as those who WILL NOT see.

Ah yes, leave me alone, God and I'll leave you alone.

Sigh.

God, please consider forgiving them, for they know not what they do!

Quix, I remember when people thought credit cards were the mark of the beast.

IMO, this verichip, like computers and other new technology can be a thing of good.

As far as government use, I think it could be used by the military and/or the administration. Imagine a kidnapping that could be foiled, capture of our soldiers..we could find them, hostage taking, etc. And that is just the GPS side of the technology.

It has great promise in medical support beyond the buttons used in the commercials "I've fallen and I can't get up".

If you are looking for the sign of the beast, Arafat is wearing one on his head!

May God open your eyes as well.

Thanks for your kind reply.

I still see credit cards as just a "reasonable" step in a calculated process.

Given terrorism and safety concerns, of course the mark will seem wonderful in lots of respects.

One key factor alone would make it otherwise--the fact that God says He will reject the person who bears it.

Usually, when there's extreme risk, we prefer extreme caution, extreme safety.

Eternal damnation vs eternal life sounds like extreme enough risk to me.

Please explain how you got from implanting a microchip for identification purposes to that person 'bearing the sign' of the beast? Maybe I'm a little slow this morning, but I think that's a stretch.

That's assuming the criminals who would engage in such behavior would take the "oh gee, you caught us" attitude. It might also result in mutiliations in order to remove the chip's locating abilities, or murder as the option if the chips are not easily removed. Also, the chip must transmit or receive. That means it can also be blocked. And given the power requirements that would be needed for the hostage example, I seriously doubt that will be in the near future.

A) scientist, scholar, inventor engaged in a number of highly classified projects developing such a chip discovers from his friend that The Bible talks about the very stuff he's working on. He resigns.

B) Said person becomes a committed, authentic, born again Christian and begins speaking out publically at significant risk. He asserts research has found that the Biblical "forehead" or "palm" is the best location to implant the chips.

C) He asserts that the plans are to do exactly as The Bible declares--to prevent anyone without the chip from buying or selling.

D) Significant other sources go public or semi-public saying various parts of essentially the same thing. Some such sources end up dead under mysterious circumstances.

E) Given the technology. Given the other signs of the "end times," it's a very logical option.

F) Better prophetic types agree on the evaluation of the technology.

G) Satan's game has persistently been one of slave-oriented control toward destruction, death, suffering along with the ultra, slave-oriented, flavored control vs God's FREEDOM-IN-OBEDIENCE orientation. This technology fits that perfectly.

H) Safety fears of death or pain or hurt or loss of some kind fits satan's pattern of generating and then playing on fears. God says to fear nothing other than being in awe of His awesomeness with reverence and respect. So even the "positive" uses of the technology smell of satan's fear peddling.

I) I don't care to get close to risking eternal isolation from God for mere buying and selling privileges. Martyrdom would be a much preferred option.

J) You are welcome--in a sense--to choose otherwise--AT YOUR OWN RISK!

It might be fun to ask them if THEY were going to get one and watch the reaction.

I have absolutely no doubt that if they were offered one for immediate implantation on the show they'd fall all over each other to be first in line.

Like many of the technological advances we will be facing in the coming years, this has the potential for great good, or great evil. It's in our hands, just like it always has been.

My bet is more leaning towards the GREAT AMOUNT OF EVIL.

Imagine Kofi Annan of the United Nations utilizing this to eat, breathe, work and implement the paying of- (as advertised on the official United Nations web page) the GLOBAL tax they want to add force into their tyrannical globalization dream they call their DECLARATION-WE THE PEOPLES.

Many have called folks tin foil hat wearers here on this forum years ago because the term and realness of a NEW WORLD ORDER AKA GLOBALIZATION.
