I think that President Bush and PM Blair have no choice but, to "advise" Israel to withdraw. Just asking Israel to withdraw may satisfy the weenie Euros and Arab "allies" and buy Israel some more time to clean the swamp. I think the two leaders are trying to accomplish 2 things-keep everyone calm worldwide and treading water, until Israel can finish. I expect the media and Euros will ratchet up the rhetoric demanding that the US punish Israel in the coming days. Wish there could be a definite connection made between the PLO and Al Queda, as I think that would change the dynamic.

I agree in a certain sense. Bush and Blair have no right to tell a leader of State (Sharon) how to lead his country. The unspoken tone of the Bush message is that Sharon had better comply or suffer the consequences. These consequences could ostensibly come from another Arab nation, or in the form of reduced support from the US. There are three or four Arab nations straining straining at the bit and will watch Sharon's actions very carefully. Bush knows this. Blair knows this and Sharon is learning real quick despite his stubborness. His continued stubborness can only lead to more support for Palestine from those Arab nations. Less support for Sharon from Bush and Blair. Or both.
