Live Thread: President Bush and Prime Minister Blair Press Conference, Noon EST, 4/6/02
self | Saturday, April 6, 2002 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/06/2002 7:49:04 AM PST by kristinn

Live from Crawford, Texas, it's the George and Tony show.

Will George slap Bill and Yasser around again like he did last night? Will Tony come off as George's toy poodle? Will the press be their usual boorish selves ? Is Helen Thomas there ?

The answer to these and other questions will be answered at Noon eastern time.

Howdy Buckaroo

You proceed from a false premise. America is not the world's police man, either figuratively or literally.

I understand that liberals like billeh blahthe (clinton, in case I took too much liberty to make that recognizable, but that bloated buffoon is the most lampoonable public figure in history so I hope you will forgive my indulging myself)... Anyhow... Yes, liberals seem unable to understand that freedom and prosperity are synonomous, always needing to pay in American blood and treasure for the peace and prosperity that so much of the world lacks as if penance were appropriate. The world does not need American blood and treasure, the world needs freedom, and no amount of sacrifice can make up for what people in foreign lands choose to suffer at the hands of their annointed despots.

We did look a lot like the world's police under liberal leadership, but that is over. If Americans are called upon to sacrifice blood and treasure, it is for our vital national interests.

Speaking of which, it is good to hear that our vast outlays of foreign aid (yes it is inconsistent, but free people are so generous of spirit we do try to mitigate suffering, yes it should be voluntary and not coerced through taxation, yes we need reform after a generation of liberal abuse) will now be witheld if the aid only serves to fatten the parasites that afflict foreign lands, that reform, if only incremental, was long overdue.

It does not follow that America is or must be a public servant to the rest of the world in order to root out and destroy terrorism.

I did not approve of clintons asinine abuse of our military, but his bloated political corpse is no longer relevant to anyone or anything.

Unless you have a daughter

You must be a lawyer. Tie up my ( and all of ours ) natural rights in a court of law based upon a government that no longer believes in our historical foundations.

Iraq was GWB's father's fault.

Are you saying that we should not have defended Kuwait and driven Iraq out of Kuwait? Hmmmmm.

Maybe you are right. We probably shouldn't have done that. Better to let Iraq have Kuwait and its oil fields. Better to let Sadaam totally disrupt the flow of oil and destroy the world economy. Better to let Sadaam have Kuwait so he could next move unto Saudi Arabia and then take those oil fields. Yep, that's the ticket. That's what we should have done. Why then, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now. (/sarcasm)

Or, perhaps you are suggesting that we should have gone into Baghdad and taken out Sadaam at that time. But wait, why does America have to be the world's policeman?

I will agree that GHWB should have finished off Saddam. The enforcing of the Gulf War treaty, however, is the responsibility of all the countries who allied against Iraq. And since the US and GB lead that coalition, they are simply in the process of NOW enforcing a treaty that got kicked to the curb by not only the Clinton Adminsitration, but also the rest of the world. The fact that the UN is basically saying, 'oh just leave Saddam be' is proof that the UN is worthless. But that treaty is STILL a treaty, and as such, it needs to be enforced.

If you want to sit back and let the chips fall where they may, so be it. But look what complacency got us on 9-11.

Solutions, Buckaroo. Give us some solutions. Tell us what you would do. Give us some practical Buckaroo wisdom.

I see logic, and facts in everyone's posts to you, and I see nothing but meaningless phrases, and insults from you. Could it be that you have no answers?

If we goto war ... we don't pooh-pah, like are these FReaks. We declare it. It is unconstituional about our Empire. We live in a concentration camp and only a few folks recognise this.

America no longer operates based upon the Constitution. And you folks are paying for it.

I'm not even sure he has coherent questions or complaints, let alone solutions.

Howdy

Let us not forget that, when President Bush (senior) chose not to take Baghdad, he counted on the Kurds, armed and equipped by us, to set their own Iraqi house in order. Much as his son President Bush did with stunning success recently in Afghanistan with the Northern Alliance.

Who could have guessed that saddam would use nerve gas and choking agents and biological filth against his own people just to keep his fat back side in his bloody throne?

It is hard to blame George H. W. Bush for failing to forsee that saddam would do one of history's most depraved acts of mass murder, yes he got that wrong and now we have to clean house after a decade of clinton's cowardice encouraged and facilitated preparations for worse abuses by saddam.

Such is life, now Gulf War act two begins.

Okay, so if GW declares war on Iraq, all will be right with the world, eh?

Somehow, I doubt this will satisfy you. But maybe if we declare war, then we aren't being the world's policemen? Am I following this?

But I do like our government operating within the bounds with which it has been given its power by defending and protecting our citzenry from threats, both foreign and domestic.

Funny how this little truth is ignored by the 'give us our freedom' crowd. While we must be vigilant to make sure the government does not exceed the bounds of its task to protect us from very real threats, we also must allow the government to do what it needs to do to keep us safe from terrorists, within and beyond our borders.

Okay, so if GW declares war on Iraq, all will be right with the world, eh?

Precisely my thought, Wphile.

Buckeroo, all your anger and frustration will be ended with a simple Declaration of War?
I think not.

Now he is saying we should 'nuke the b**tards.' Say what? This guy is all over the map. I thought he didn't like us meddlin' in other people's affairs. But I guess as long as we declare war, as proscribed by the Constitution, then all is okay. It seems that as long as we do it alone we are not partaking in any NWO crap. Hmmmmm....????

Thanks! And I forgot, thank you, that technically, we are already in a state of war with Baghdad by virtue of their non compliance with the instrument of surrender!

Slapping forehead... How could the liberal whacko press and bill clinton ignore that this nation is in a state of war?!?!

Holy smokes, the minor details that were set aside as clinton made war on American liberties and property rights and our national defense, we actually have to dust mothballs off the glaring truth that we spent a decade at war without a single coherent thought expressed on the part of our political leadership taking that minor detail into account.

Oh man, now THAT is nuts.

Thanks again, that is a hoot. I have to go get some work done, take care!
