Ummah's firm stand, only way to save Palestinians: WMC Islamabad, April 6, IRNA --
Secretary General of World Muslim Congress (WMC) - Moatmar Aa'lam Islami- Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haqq on Friday said all Muslim countries should form a collective strategy towards resolution of the Palestinian problem as it is a cause of anguish for the entire Islamic Ummah.
Talking to "IRNA" here, Raja Zafarul Haqq underlined the need for adopting a joint stand to save annihilation of innocent Palestinians by Israeli military might. "It would serve no purpose at all, if we kept raising our voices only in favour of our brethren in Palestine. Instead some tangible action is vital to save the Palestinians," he emphasised.
The WMC secretary general contended the issue of Palestine is the issue for all the Muslims across the globe and until and unless, we all collectively come to rescue of our brothers in Palestine, Israel would continue slaughtering them in cold blood.
Reacting to US President George W. Bush's statement wherein he fully supported Israeli military operations inside Palestinian territories, including Ramallah and Beit Lahm (Bethlehem), he said it is unfortunate that a country which had violated all norms and laws has the unlimited backing of Washington.
Bush had declared what Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was doing to Palestinians was its right. Raja Zafarul Haqq expressed his dismay over what he called inconclusive meetings in Beirut and recently in Malaysia. "It is unfortunate that the Muslim nations are yet to come up with a unified strategy towards the Palestinian crisis, more than half a century after the Jewish state problem has emerged" he remarked. WMC secretary general, who was to leave to participate in "Rabita i Aa'lami Islami's" emergency meeting in Riyadh this week, was of the view that what Israel was resorting to against the people of Palestine on their own land was a glaring example of state terrorism.
The Moatmar Aa'lam Islami secretary general welcomed an Iraqi proposal to stop oil supply to Israel and the United States for their role in on-going slaughter of the Muslims in Palestine. "I think a joint strategy of such a type could be very effective in the prevailing heart-rendering scenario in the Middle East," he maintained. According to media reports, relief agencies like International Committee of the Red Cross are not being allowed even to lift Palestinians dead bodies and the injured lying on the road.
During an interview with this agency, a few days back, Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Abdul Razzaq al-Salman had expressed serious apprehensions, saying Israeli forces were planning a large-scale massacre of Palestinian people and declaring certain towns and cities as military zone and denying access to aid agencies and the Press, Tel Aviv sought to hide such a heinous crime against humanity.
