Oh yes-! The Patriot Act is the culmination of many desired rule changes by alphabet agencies. Most of those changes would never have seen the light of day before 9/11.

Get used to losing your liberties -- Dubya has EXPRESSLY said to expect years of the Patriot Act mindset. What bothers me most is this idea that 'once terrorists are gone, we'll give you back your liberties.' Well, terrorists will NEVER be gone. If that's our yardstick, just get ready for fewer liberties in the future than we've got now, never to be returned. Because terrorism will never be eradicated. 18 posted on 4/5/02 5:10 PM Pacific by zoyd
We were taked advantage of. When our emotions were high, government whipped up a bunch of new laws that it had wanted for sometime. While the American public was concerned about more terrorism, government said that if we just went along with its new rules, everything would be okay, and all the terrorists would be captured in a few years. Oh, and yes, we are going to damage your liberties considerably, but we promise to give them back to you someday.
Have you ever seen government give up power?

Prime example, their little ads they spent millions on saying druggies are funding the terrorists. I thought it was a simple case of the drug agencies trying to get a share of the rich terrorism pie.
I'm beginning to think they wanted you to ignore the fact that most of the money, equipment, and manpower for 9/11 and alqueda as a whole, came from Saudi Arabia. OBL wasn't exactly running drugs out of Colombia.

Anyone else here find it curious that the multi-hundred page "Patriot Act" was conceived of and delivered to Congress in a matter of hours? Thick, legalistic, esoteric, arcane language by the bagfull. Seems like it was waiting in the wings for the New World Order to get it's prompt. Then again....I could be insane. Daddy?
