I'm Baptist.... and I'm pretty particular who I do business with. I realize that my personal boycotts have no effect on the business owner. But that's not the point. The point is that we what is right, and that we do business with God's people when we can.

I disagree with the Baptists on this, among other things. Howard Johnson is a hotel chain and has convention and meeting accomodations available to organizations and businesses who will pay the fees they charge for their use.

This group reserved the location and is paying the fee. It is NOT open to the public and will not be going on in the lobby for all to see. Howard Johnson did not solicit them.

The Baptists are free to contract with any facilities they like, just as "Leather & Lace" is. And they are free to boycott any business they want. I will not be boycotting HoJo.

"...alternative lifestyles and forms of loving."

Modern Language Association strikes again. These perverts are driven by pure hatred of humanity, and seek to degrade everything they touch.

Good. I'm Baptist. No guts, no glory.
I'm proud of my church. Amen.

Whatever unlisted action you may disagree with the Baptists about, your subsequent words show that you are supportive of their right to boycott the hotel chain for their pandering to immorality.

Your right, I support their right to boycott any damn thing they please.

As i support the people at boycott-republicans.com's right to boycott what they want. I don't have to agree with them or join their boycott.

Good for the SBC.

If Howard Johnson's wants to solicit the business of a pervert convention, that's their business but they should expect the consequences - just like S&W and United Way. But, they shouldn't expect decent people to just accept their morally unacceptable corporate stance and continue to frequent their motels.

No more HoJo for me, until they renounce their stance. There are other places to stay which don't promote such activities.

It would be a better feeling to know that you would be staying in a hotel with the assurance that your children won't be exposed to a group of sexual Phillistines. The Howard Johnson chain should start to promote itself as adult hotels.

What evidence is there that HoJo "solicited" this convention?

And I disgree with the claim by the SBC that HoJo is "hosting" this function. For HoJo to be "hosting" this convention they would have to be paying for and promoting the convention. I would venture to say that "leather & lace" is paying for this through ticket receipts.

I was thinking something to do with frying pans. :-)
But what that would be I don't think I really want to know.

If ignorance is bliss, then I'm a happy man.

Maybe they beat each other silly with cast iron frying pans. What else could they do with them....umm....never mind. I haven't a clue.

Puleeaze!

It is possible they didn't directly "solicit" this convention, but surely they knew right away what was involved when they accepted the business. Maybe "aided and abetted" would be a better description?

And I disgree with the claim by the SBC that HoJo is "hosting" this function.

HoJo is having it in their hotel. No doubt they are providing the rooms, food, drinks for the merrymakers and parking spaces for the ambulances. They will have a nice sign in their lobby directing the way to the festivities. Their on-site staff will no doubt be involved in the set-up and planning. They will get stuck with the clean-up. And they are getting paid for all this.

If that isn't "hosting", I don't know what is.

Hey, its a free country. HoJo is a business in the business of making money. "Hosting" this convention is going to do just that for them.

I wonder how you and some others here would react is some large organization started a national boycott of companies and facilities that the SBC patronize.

Whats good for the goose...

Hey, its a free country.

Well, it used to be, sort of. Now one hosts these things or gets trashed by the homos through their own boycott. I guess there is less danger and chance of damage and injury when the boycott is by the SBC instead of the homo/sado crowd, eh??

HoJo is a business in the business of making money. "Hosting" this convention is going to do just that for them.

Right. And Arafat is just "hosting" suicide bombers for a fee from Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. It's only money, right?

One can "make money" doing a whole lot of things, and a lot of the Big Money is made on the immoral side. If all HoJo is after is filthy lucre, they can have their convention and enjoy the results of their decision - and the money, if they make any. Simple greed is not a very impressive argument for deep-sixing your hard-earned reputation, which HoJo has tried over the years to build.

I wonder how you and some others here would react is some large organization started a national boycott of companies and facilities that the SBC patronize.

One could make a good case that the facilities of the SBC are already boycotted by a good many people. You will find many of them at HoJo's St. Louis Leather and Lace Convention.

Let me state again, I fully support the SBC's right to boycott and patronize any business or organization that the please.

I however, will not be listening to the SBC or looking to them for advice on who I should patronize.

I hope their members don't find out about all the "horrible sexual devience" that has occured in the hotel rooms that they are going to stay in.
