Suicide bombers could strike in U.S. And shortly thereafter Muslims and mosques in America would face the wrath of enraged vigilates.

Nobody could blame Bush for this. I mean, it's all Sharon's fault, right?

If suicide bombers came here, Muslims would be harassed and driven out in droves. They would be forced to turn tail and flee from this corner of Dar al-Harb, unless they came out and unequivocally denounced the terrorism. Muslims (and lots of other non-Muslim people who happen to be brown) would be beaten and shot dead on the street. Mosques would be firebombed, children would be ridiculed... the environment here would be so hostile, they would have to flee.

Concern is mounting among U.S. officials and military experts that the suicide bombings increasingly being used by Palestinians against Israel could spread to other parts of the world, including the United States. And this was how hard to figure out????
To: xm177e2
Yep....and our leaders will tell us to restrain ourselves in the same way they lecture Israel....problem is...I doubt many folks or LEOs on a local level will be listening.
Shame I'm quite friendly with an Iranian exile rug importer here and I know he hates the Muslim fundies.

Precisely. What is this "could" BS?
To: TheDon
It would be different, it would be the thousand needles approach....frequent small Easter family dinner bombings etc.
I wonder fine conservatives,,,,,if the Palis suicide bomb us /// should we:
Declare a cease-fire and negotiate?
Should Israel join the Arabs and sponsor a UN Resolution against us?
Should we appease??

The media is always slow in the uptake when politics is even remotely involved unless the subject matter is so simple any kindergartner could grasp it at once. Rest assured these posibilities (or probabilities as the case may be) have been well considered since 9-11 by the administration we put in office.

[sarcasm] I'm not so much opposed to suicide bombers. It's just that they have this annoying habit of wanting to kill innocent people when they commit suicide. Perhaps, coming to America could help them deal with this troublesome little problem of theirs.
For instance, if the suicide bombers came to America I can think of some great places for them to go. We have some excellent wide open spaces (say proving grounds in Nevada) where they can blow themselves up w/o hurting anyone, unlike in Tel Aviv. In fact, I'm sure some of the local folks here might even enjoy watching them do it. [/sarcasm]

I wonder if this isn't another case of the media creating the news. Here's how it works .....
Media person asks a stupid question and gets an appropriate non-answer.Media person persists and still gets non-answers to stupid questions.
Finally media person says "What would be your reaction to the violence in the Middle East having ramifications elsewhere, including in this country?"
Government spokesperson says "We're very concerned about the violence in the Middle East having ramifications elsewhere, including in this country, and it's something we're certainly watchful about."
Voila! Now the story is written sounding like the government spokesperson called a press conference to make this startling announcement.
I'm not joking .... I've seen this sort of thing happen.

What the article fails to mention is that since Israel has gone on the offensive, there have been zero
suicide bombers
To: stuck_in_new_orleans
Amen! Yes there have been Zero since Israel began sitting on Arafart!
And remember that We ( My President) don't officially consider Arafat and his supporters as terrorists!
So suicide bombings that have already occurred and will occur because of the PLO issu are not terrorism but rather a struggle of a people for self determination!
Perhaps the PLO may apply for some US funds in their struggle for self determination.
