• I read that a Palestinian woman paramedic was killed in an explosion a couple of weeks ago. The Palestinians decry the killing of paramedics and Israel's refusal to let them treat wounded. Ordinarily I would agree. But apparently this woman paramedic was carrying explosives. While intentionally targeting civilians in war is reprehensible, turning aid workers into combatants is even worse. All it takes is one incident like this to cast the shadow of doubt on all paramedics and actually kill a lot more people indirectly by them not being able to get aid.

Do you recall where you read that story? Do you have a cite/link? I have a brief story from the New York Post that refers to a handful of such cases, without much in the way of specifics.

Sorry, I can't remember even if the source was the web or a newspaper. I have been doing heavy research into Israel-Arab conflict recently both in book and current events. But I don't recall the source, which I know sheds doubt upon it.

for that matter, what was all the fighting about prior to the establishment of the modern state of Israel?
