SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (AP) - A dispute between two neighbors over loud music ended Monday with one shooting the other and then turning the gun on himself, authorities said.

Neighbors called authorities after hearing eight to 10 gunshots following a heated argument, said Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.

What would a reasonable-person conclude?

Are we talking about a reasonable drug addict who only cares about his next fix? A reasonable gun nut with C4 plastic explosives in his sneakers and a bomb making lab in his garage? A reasonable addict of vicious and degrading pornography? A reasonable militia cretin who thinks driving without a license or insurance is reasonable and a right? A reasonable Party ideologue who thinks only a half a percent of the unreasonable "sheeple" know what's good for all the rest?

Radio Shack and a little study can get you a "box" that transmits at 10.7 mhz with carrier tone of 1khz,

From my experiance it only takes about a week to "train" the offenders to keep the volume down to levels you can stand. ;)

Cool! And well short of murder, too. ;)

At the Hard Times Hotel there was a miscreant who always played his radio at a blaring volume, even when he wasn't home in his room. It was quite annoying to the neighbors. One day when the thoughtless individual had his radio blaring and walked out for the day, after a while one neighbor couldn't stand it any more. What did he do? He busted into the man's room, reached over to the radio, and ... turned the volume down for him. So when the thoughtless one returned, rather than seeing his prized radio laying shattered into a thousand pieces as we're certain the neighbor was tempted to do, he saw his radio turned down to a reasonable volume. Lesson learned, you suppose? It certainly hadn't resulted in an escalation to murder.

Oh dear, I have it too, that rage thingy. I live on a very busy street & when cars go by with real loud steros that rattle my windows, I have really bad thoughts about them. Yep, I've got it.

That's an oxymoron, if ever there was one. Libertarians talking about " reasonable ".

You were baited . That isn't reasonable. None of his posts were " reasonable ". In fact, he broke posting rules...one assumes , for the sole purpose of a flame war. That is no way to win friends and influence people !

In the statutes of most if not all states, a property owner has the right to the "quiet, peaceful enjoyment of his property". Unfortunately, there are many self-centered, antisocial, maladjusted, immature brats who have no respect for others and seem proud to show their complete lack of social standing by blasting their stereos in their homes and cars.

I'm not an expert in electronics, but I'm going to make a note of your "suggestion" and maybe I can figure out how to put something like that together. I would love to be able to turn the tables on those loud music offenders.

I have since moved out to a home in the country where I can barely hear my neighbors do anything. But it would be interesting to go ask the people who moved into my spot next to the idiot what they think about his music-playing habits. But I like the way you think!

You wrote an excellent explanation. In short, the right of anyone to swing their fist ends an inch or so from my chin. Nobody has the right to annoy another law-abiding citizen, but people have to use common sense in many situations where the law is not clearcut.

I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. If I lived in a city and had a neighbor who kept waking me up or otherwise disturbing me by playing the noise known of as "Rap Music/Hip Hop" at ear-bleed levels,I have no doubt I would kill the SOB if he refused to stop doing it.

Probably bagpipe music.

No,but that is a excellent strategy to employ. Blast bagpipe music REAL loud at your neighbor, and promise to do this anytime he plays that crap he thinks is music in your direction.

but I distinctly remember reading a while back about an experiment some store owners did in conjunction with the local police. They discovered that playing the classics like Beethoven and Mozart in their storefront windows was incredibly effective at keeping away street thugs and other undesireable elements.

I don't remember the city, but it was the 7-11 store chain doing this. And let's face it,the majority of classical music sucks, too.

Is this group the radical bible-thumpers? It accurately describes them.
