I think I'm in sports heaven. Not only did the Terps win their first national title ever, but the Orioles whipped butt on Roger Clemens and the Yankees. Pinch me, I must be dreaming!

Bottom line is that the teams with the senior leadership are the ones that win championships in this age. Looking back over the last few years, Maryland with three seniors, Duke with Battier, Michigan State the year before (yes, Cleves was a junior, but could have been a high draft pick the year before), and Connecticut before that.
Jeffries needs to stay at Indiana and lead this team back to the final four next year to build on this experience, just as Maryland did last year. They had the opportunity to win that game, but couldn't make layups or free throws.

"That was one of the most sloppy games I have seen in a long time ;)"Kinda like a BAD Reese's Peanut Butter cup:
Two great Teams that DON't play well together.
Worst FF Championship game - ever.
Thankfully, bad games like this in March are as rare as a good Super Bowl match.

W*USA (DC CBS affiliate) is showing wild, elated, and a few drunk celebrants in Prince Georges County, Maryland. I've never seen so many police armed with riot gear for a basketball game victory. The DC area has been championship free since the 80's glory days of the Redskins. These fans are happy!I watched the CBS affiliate in Baltimore after the game. The word "riot" was used over and over, but all I saw were a few thousand people milling about. There were a few bonfires. The word riot was distinctly missing from the coverage of the "protests" in Seattle last year, if I recall.

They had the opportunity to win that game, but couldn't make layups or free throws. That's how I feel about DUKE. They too had the opportunity to win against IU, but came up short. On that particular night, they did not play like the better of the two teams. Too bad Boozer and Williams are leaving; they, along with Dunleavy, Duhon, Jones and Ewing could lead DUKE to the national title next year, given their experience and positions of leadership. But, instead, I feel that DUKE will be "regrouping/rebuilding" and will have an incredible amount of work to do to make it to next year's final four.

What crow? I'm a Duke fan, and I was pulling for Maryland. Keep it in the ACC (except for Carolina, of course)!

it aint ugly when you're the team that wins, you have to remember that it's only about entertainment if your team isnt involved.
I remember saying to my wife that I wouldnt be able to enjoy the NC because it was a sloppy game and Maryland should have won by 20-25 pts, if they played a good game.
But that's the kind of statement that a fan makes in haste, it tastes sweet as Madiera this morning.

I have a Maryland alumnus buddy down in Raleigh Durham who takes heat all the time by his "tobacco road" buddies. He's enjoying it now while it lasts and he's the one telling me about all his friends having to consume this black bird ;-)

I am sure that Indiana is disappointed but the evidence is in, their program is back on track and they can put Bobby Knight behind them now. Yes..and isn't Davis a class act !!!
