ARABS PREPARE FOR SADDAM'S OUSTER

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Arab countries are quietly preparing for a U.S. military campaign to oust Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Arab diplomatic sources said preparations can be seen in Arab countries such as Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and most of the Gulf Cooperation Council states. They said the Arab efforts are focusing on bolstering internal security to deal with the prospect of pro-Saddam unrest.

The sources said the fate of Saddam was a major issue in the Arab League summit in Beirut last week. They said Arab delegates from virtually all of the countries in attendance assessed that Washington would attack the Saddam regime over the next six months.

Jordan's King Abdullah, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and United Arab Emirates President Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan stayed away from the Arab League summit. Arab diplomatic sources said they were pressured to remain absent from the meeting rather than be forced to agree to pro-Iraqi resolutions amid a growing resignation by U.S. allies in the Middle East to the likelihood of a U.S. attack on Saddam.

I'd rather see the Arabs preparing for Saddam's funeral. I don't want to see the Butcher of Baghdad ousted. I just want to see him DEAD.

Yet, when it happens, Dashole will whine about not being informed prior to our marching on Baghdad.

In all honesty, would it be wise to go after Iraq right now with the situation in Israel getting worse? If anything, I see the events in Israel as spoiling the Bush Admin's plans for going after Iraq.

There's a small window in which we can get Saddam before he aquires nuclear weapons. We get him now or face a certain regional nuclear war in the mid-east with the possibility of it expanding to America.

Elaborate, please. I think that Bush is a bit miffed that his plans for going after Iraq are now put on hold. Explain to me why that isn't so.

Don't worry they have this planned out. Sharon visited Bush last month and then a couple weeks later sent in the tanks. What do you think the flies on the wall heard? Bush gave him some time to do what he needed to do and then pull out. After he pulls out the tanks all is calm and Saddam is back in play !

how are they put on "hold" There was never any setting of a date prior to May 8, only just the HOPE that things could be got together so that IF NEED BE IN EMERGENCY, the button could be pushed sooner...

Are you saying something about Israel's activities delays or puts off that campaign? I see no reason why.

Well, I think considering that we have been the major player in the war on terrorism for the past 7 months, the situation in Israel kinda deflates the sails. I mean, imagine how the Arab world (not to mention Russian and China) would react if Israel went after the Palestinians at the same time we went after Iraq? Surely support for out war on terror would wain, except for Great Britian, who I think will support us no matter what. To have Israel at war with the Palestinians, and the US (in essence) at war with Iraq once again would be, to me, a bad move.

I have no doubt that Cheney's visit to the Arab countries was to prepare them for an attack on Iraq. But I just think that they events in Israel change that- at least for the time being.

I think the delay may involve 4 reasons (and probably more):

1. It allows us to stock up on precision guided missles. (after Clinton and Afghanistan, I'm betting we are rather low in the reserve dept).

2. It allows controversial action (the toppling of Saddams regime) to be taken after election day.

3. It provides time to train and arm opposition forces.

4. It gives us time to mop up Al quaeda forces and other loosely knit terrorist groups around the globe. Flame away.
