I am pro-Isreal for many reasons:
1.) Europe abandoned the Jews and someone has to stick up for them.
2.) Besides some hideous scandals like the USS Liberty and Jonathan Pollard, they support the US even amongst the treacherous US-hating world.
3.) They vote with the USA 95% of the time in the UN, far more than any other country.
4.) They are the only democracy in a region filled with religious zealots and totalitarians.
5.) Their enemies routinely accepted aid and weapons from the communists during the Cold War.
6.) Isreal's enemies have attacked her over and over again and its clear that they are the bad guys.
7.) The muslim world is basically stuck in their own dark ages and are a threat to everyone around them. 8.) Much of the arab world is a bunch of lying terrorists and Isreal sits right on the middle of all this craziness.

Aldridge Ames Aldridge Ames was a double agent working for the CIA and the KGB. The only connection he had with Israel was framing Pollard for getting all the agents that Ames exposed executed. I think you are mistaken, sir.

Because it is a moral imperative, as a Western, democratic, open and free society, to support a Western, democratic, open, and free society against attack by morally bankrupt, murderous leaders who have fostered a culture of hopelessness and demonstrate no regard for the lives of their own people as they send men, women and children to kill themselves while murdering innocent men, women and children.

Because I live in Germany, in a city that had a vibrant Jewish community almost totally eradicated by the Nazis.
Because when I walk the streets, I see the holes in the air where these Jews and their offspring (as well as the decent non-Jewish Germans killed by the Nazis) would be walking today.
Because I can't see how I could go on living in a world after a second Holocaust.
Because my mother was Jewish, and the Jews are my people.
Because the U.S. thankfully wielded its muscle to stop the killing of Bosnian Muslims, and enabled them to form a state, in Europe, in which they live safely.
Because expansionist Islam will come after the rest of us next if they destroy Israel.

I'm pro-Israel since it isn't the Jews that are bombing Americans. They didn't fly planes into the WTC. They didn't blow up US embassies. They didn't blow up the military base. They didn't bomb the WTC in 93.
They are fighting those people.

I support the Israelis because the Dirty Stinking Hippies (they aren't real hippies because they were born 30 years too late) cry for the Palestinians.

By the way, when people answer, "Because I am a Christian", that means that they are simply following the Bible's instructions, found in Ps.22:6!

They are God's chosen people. That's good enough for this Christian. I want to be on His side of every conflict.

I think it's a big mistake to tie our nation's goals too tightly to the goals of Israel.Interesting thread, isn't it? Few have stated the obvious: We should support Israel because it is in America's best interest to do so.
Most have other agendas.
To: ElisabethInCincy
Because of 9/11 we better understand Israel's perspective.
Years from now it will be obvious that 9/11 was the worst thing that could ever happened to the Palestinians.

Why pro-Israel? Because I'm a Christian, that's why. You bless Jews, you get blessed. You do evil to them, you get the shaft, and that from the Almighty. It's all there in the Bible, look it up.....

Why pro-Israel? Because I'm a Christian, that's why. You bless Jews, you get blessed.Haven't you heard of the separation of church and state? You have no right in America to inject your religious views into political matters. Ask Alan Dershowitz. Ask Norman Lear. Ask Chuckie Schumer. Ask Jerrold Nadler.Ask Barbara Boxer. Ask Abe Foxman. The ADL, ACLU and the People for the American Way will set you straight if you have any questions.
