The Wanderer is easily the Catholic news source of record, bar none. There is a special going on now for a subscriber to give a friend a 6 month subscription for a $25 donation. Catholic bishops, the Chancery bureaucrats, and the Catholic left (like Call to Action) hate The Wanderer with a passion because it constantly reports on their abuses and perversions. They often refer to it as "that right wing rag" or other such drivel. Their reporting is fearless. Buy it just to annoy the Catholic left.

For Catholic news including the Vatican try

http://www.ewtn.com/vnews/headlines.asp

The Wanderer is still the best for news of Church problems in America. They were years ahead in pointing toward problems in what they refer to as the Am-Church. Your generally won't find it is parishes because pointing out Church problems is considered 'uncharitable'. However, those that don't like the Wanderer must be pleased with the secular newspapers and the lawyers pointing out Church problems.

Two sources I find informative are:

TCRNews joins other Catholics loyal to the Holy Father and Church in opposing the neo-modernist revolution and its bitter manifestations, just as it opposes the others errors that affect and infect the modern world-- atheism, Communism, Socialism (old forms or new) the abortion epidemic, euthanasia, secular sex education, Sodomy, radical Feminism, syncretism, liturgical trendiness and kitsch, Integrist errors and all schismatic theology, etc.

and

Diocese Reports a kind of Drudge link site devoted to links with Catholic interests.

For a slightly more Drudge-style approach to Catholic News, you might try the Spirit Daily.

It has an apocalyptic slant and can be a little sensationalist sometimes, but also has some good links to just about every religious site on the web.

This seems to be the place to ask you Catholics a question I've had for a couple of weeks.

I was watching TLC, some show on mummification, and they said that each pope has been mummified after his death, and that the part of JP2 that was removed in surgury after the assasination attemp has already been mummified.

Is this for real? And if so why, and why just the pope and not all Catholics? Do they claim to have Peter's mummified body, or what is the oldest pope's mummy they have? I'm not trying to start any trouble, I just want a better understanding of this one thing.
