Senior cleric denounces summit as waste of time

The president of the Association of Jabal Amel Ulama on Friday described the just-concluded Beirut Arab summit as the “loss-of-time summit,” which, he said, was powerless and had no effect on international politics dominated by the United States.
Speaking during a Friday sermon, Sheikh Afif Nabulsi said Arab leaders had made “concessions to achieve peace with a cruel enemy (Israel) that knows nothing but war, hatred and destruction.”

The peace initiative proposed by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Abdullah at the summit, he added, was a “freak” that was not destined to survive for very long, and it would go the way of previous accords reached on the Palestine issue.

He said the initiative had “ignored many of the legitimate and firm rights of the Palestinian people as there is no longer such a thing called the right of return” for refugees.
Nabulsi also praised suicide attacks undertaken by Palestinian militants, saying they constituted a “clear message” to Arab leaders that resistance would continue, “irrespective of Arab initiatives or American proposals.”

Note with interest the last paragraph saying that the suicide bombers were sending clear messages to ARAB leaders that peace proposals would not succeed.

Senior cleric (Islmic)denounces summit as waste of time

What do you expect from a self serving moron? Islamic clerics are well known to turn a blind public eye to the ignorance, inhumanity, and hate which they foster in order to maintain their own temporal power and prestige.

This "man of god" is making it clear that all the self-delusion about peace process is just so much nonsense. Leftists will however never understand that you can't somehow talk your way to peace. Their understanding of human nature is in error: human beings are not some neutral slate to be written on by the benign interventions of leftist politics, but harbor the capacity for great evil. In the face of some of the greatest barbarism ever seen (mothers sending their children to murder other children, in exchange for $25,000 checks from Saddam Hussein), they persist in imagining that it is just a question of coming up with some concession, finding some formula, pursuing some negotiation.

Contributing to the present bloodshed of the Israelis was the peace process nonsense pursued by the Israeli left. Could it be that some of them knew that it would go nowhere, but that it gave them the chance to portray their domestic political opposition as "warmongers" by appealing to the wishful thinking of the public, and thus cement their hold on office, even at the cost of bringing their country to the brink of disaster? There was plenty of evidence all along that Arafat and the Palestinians had no intention whatever of complying with Oslo, and remained bent on their permanent objective: the complete destruction of Israel and of the jews.
