To: Doctor Stochastic
The new version seems to take much, much longer to load a page.

The last time JohnRob did major work on the software it was very slow for a couple days. I don't know enough to even guess the process, but I would guess it will be streamlined shortly. I'm confident that John would like to have the performance up to his old high standards.

It may need speed-tweaking, but the fundamental problem is that the new format transfers way too much data to create a page.

The main forum page sends about 230k of data to load! That takes anywhere from 15-30 seconds to transfer on my slow rural connection - it's at least 2 or 3 times slower than the old version. Even cached, it's still very slow.

I don't see that as a step forward; too much overhead baggage just to create a page.
