Would be a great way to honor the 75th Anniversary of the Oscars..

No, it wouldn't. Keep in mind that if he did accept he would be presiding over the very same shameless self promotion, vulgarity and infantile marxist posturing.

You know, it wouldn't surprise me to hear that they're pursuing the King of the World himself, His Majesty the Sinkmaster! And I think it would be wholly appropriate, don't you?!

He won't do it!
What I don't understand is why they want Oprah. She's not funny. She's a good interviewer if you like the Barbara Walters style which I don't.
If they want it to be even more soppy and political than this year, Oprah might be a good choice.
Personally, I thought Steve Martin was excellent if Billy Crystal won't do it.
And I've been a bit down on Billy since he dined with Clinton the other night.

I'd like to see Johnny again. But he's been the invisible man. I'm sure he could practice his way back into good comedic timing and delivery. I just don't know that he'd want to do it. It's not a risk, it's probably just not interesting to him. What's he got to prove?

The Oscars and the whole Gollywood crowd will need an army of Johnny Carsons to improve their image. They're a bunch of pukes and most normal people don't really care about their fake "awards".

Carson has everything to lose and nothing to gain by doing it IMO. The Oscars is a sham and everyone with a brain outside of Hollyweird knows it.

I doubt Carson would do it. He's an old man now - must be approaching his mid-70s - and he's always been a private person. I think Carson has very little in common with the Oscar crowd, and would not be comfortable in that forum.

The whole point is, Johnny Carson doesn't NEED to host the Academy Awards. That's why he'll say no.He knows how good he was and besides, how on earth would they find what part of the worlds' oceans he's cruising his Big Yacht on, w/ his wife, hmmm? It just isn't going to happen.
