[history]
IF Bill O'Reilly's goal was to make some purveyors of shock culture look like total jerks, then his special airing tonight is a complete success.
And the word "jerks" is actually too mild a description for some of O'Reilly's targets in the show, which is titled "An 'O'Reilly Factor' Special: The Corruption of the American Child," airing at 9 p.m. on Fox/Ch. 5 (not the Fox News Channel).

Buckman and O'Reilly work for
Rupert; still the likes of Jack Valenti could have been knocked over with a feather duster long ago.

What is amazing is the schlock that is being passed off as family fare.

Someone please explain why parents are not doing their job here? Don't blame the industry if the parents are not aware of what their kids listen to.
Sorry, but O'Reilly is barking up the wrong tree here. At least it looks like he is leaving Howard Stern alone.

Thanks. I seem to be posting things that have already popped up three times on this site. It's discouraging sometimes.
By the way, here's a little good news about Rupert. But the biz press is full of stories having him taking over the Kirch media empire in Germany. The battle continues.

rappers Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope of the Insane Clown Posse are reportedly driven to gigs by their mom, in the family minivan, once they have done their household chores (room cleaning, emptying trash, raking the yard, etc.).

The motion picture ratings system is NOT law. The producers of an "R" rated picture bear no responsibility if a 15 year old sees one. Perhaps O'Reilly should have been chiding the manager of that theatre.

No problem, Gene: It bears mentioning twice. ;-)
Since we're at it, let me repost the link that I posted on the other thread:
The Hunt for Cool
It's a Frontline episode dealing with this topic, and the cynical way in which media conglomerates market crap to our children. I highly recommend it.

Someone please explain why parents are not doing their job here? How come my parents did not have to be media police on top to all the other daily parental chores?
Maybe because producers were responsible enough back in those days to actually care what kids could get a hold of?
